Responsible Strategic Communication Chair
Grupo La Información and the Chair
La Información Group was founded in 1903 with the purpose of publishing the “Diario de Navarra” newspaper. However, the group’s mission in the 21st century is not to inform through the pages of a newspaper. Our mission is to satisfy society’s needs for communication, knowledge and leisure and to favour a communication-based development cooperation to serve as a meeting forum for social, political and economic stakeholders.
Within the framework of this mission, building on our over a hundred year’s experience in the Communication sector, the Group believes that it is vital for the development of the economic fabric – as well as the social and political fabric, to elevate Communication to the level of senior management. In this sense, it seems appropriate and suitable to combine the Group’s professional experience with the teaching experience of the IE Business School.
Scope
The Responsible Strategic Communication Chair brings together three concepts: binding the members of a group and making them into a community (Communication) with the twofold purpose of generating value (Strategy) and of ensuring a better future for the next generations (Responsibility).
The core activity of the Chair focuses on putting to the senior management of organizations the idea of upgrading communication to the category of strategic weapons in order to create value for stakeholders.
Mission and vision
Being the think tank of Senior Management Strategic Communication in the Spanish-speaking market, the missing link between strategy and communication for senior managers.
Purpose of the Chair
Because enterprises, most frequently, do not have publicity problems, or pricing problems, not even product problems - they have communication problems instead. We do the right thing, but we fail to communicate it appropriately.
Because what you don’t communicate doesn’t exist. And what you are not aware of doesn’t exist.
Because stakeholders are the moving element in a changing environment. The duty of the person in charge of adapting the enterprise to its environment is to get to know its stakeholders, draw up a ranking list and share what they need. This knowledge is of paramount importance: it leads to satisfaction and, consequently, to the loyalty and trustworthiness of stakeholders.
Aims
Spreading the concept of communication as a tool that promotes the involvement of social, political and economic agents to ultimately achieve sustainable development in any domain.
Encouraging reflection on Responsible Strategic Communication among the Senior Management.
Providing a platform for examining synergies between communication strategies and the communication of the Strategic Plan.
Developing a conceptual restructuring allowing to understand and manage the impact of a Responsible Strategic Communication.
Developing teaching materials such as Case Studies, Technical Notes or surveys on different themes.
Promoting training among the senior management enabling them to understand what RSC entails for the strategy and development of the enterprise and to learn how to make it into a competitive advantage.
Endorsing the development of joint initiatives with international institutions and enterprises, preferably in Latin America and other emerging markets.
