The information, as much the one that receives the Board of Directors, necessary for the exercise of its important function of supervision and control oriented to the wealth creation, like which it transmits to the shareholders and the markets, necessary for the knowledge of the company performance and the adequated quotations formation, is a critical and, sometimes, limited resource.
The rules, as much legal as voluntary, that regulate the information management in the companies, have affected more the information towards shareholders and markets that the information that must handle the Board of Directors. This lack of objective references and the heterogeneity of companies and used information systems have originated a situation of information deficiency that, in opinion of many, has taken to some companies to disappear or to face serious problems.

The main objective of the Observatory created by the Instituto de Empresa and Everis is to constitute itself in a centre to analyze the actual situation of the information in the Boards of Directors.
As alternative or complementary targets appears the investigation in subjects related to the relevant information for the Board of Directors and the application of the new technologies in the management and use of this information.
