Madrid, November, 2004. A team of students from Instituto de Empresa’s International MBA has received the title of ‘The Most Innovative MBA Team in the World’ in the Innovation Challenge organised by Thunderbird – Garvin School of International Management and Idea Crossing, LLC.

This year the competition attracted 251 participating teams of MBA students from 17 countries and 81 of the world’s 100 leading business schools. The teams generated new business solutions to real-world business challenges posed by sponsoring organisations, which included Hilton, Sprint, Valvoline, Sunbeam and Chiquita.
The Instituto de Empresa team, comprised of Alessandro Cappelletti, Claude Heinis, Federico Tonetti , Nicolás Rodríguez and its captain, Richard Caelius, captivated the competition judges, who based their evaluation on criteria such as freshness and daring, the idea’s commercial potential, the degree of sustainable competitive advantage, and the feasibility of the project. In the semi-final, the Instituto de Empresa’s ‘dream team’ presented an imaginative proposal for improving the relations of the Hilton Chain with its clients. And in the final, the team proposed a a new product idea for the automotive and industrial products company, Valvoline, which won them the title and the first prize of $20,000.
The student body of Instituto de Empresa’s International MBA comprises more than 80% foreign students from over 40 countries, a cultural melting pot that makes for a highly enriching programme. The International MBA, which runs for 13 months, is considered to be among the five top MBA programmes in Europe and the 20 top MBAs worldwide in rankings by international media such as Financial Times.
