IE School of Communication projects the human and digital side of an individual who ventures on in-depth conceptual knowledge, added to which is story-telling, strategic vision, creativity and entrepreneurial management ability.
The vocation of the journalist-reporter is combined with the management responsibility of corporate and institutional communication, together with greater advertising originality and cinematographic imagination. All of this represents the IE Communicator: intellectual, writer and executive. IE School of Communication starts in the profession with the facet of information, documentation and journalistic writing until it reaches an entrepreneurial and multimedia mentality of media content; it consolidates internship and job opportunities in print media, radio, television and film, but also covers the demands of advertising and public relations agencies, company communications departments, consultants, foundations, multilateral bodies, NGOs and the public administration.
The most honest, accurate, fair, clear, respectful, restless, aware, capable and enthusiastic about studying to know and responsibly manage the value, power, influence and magic of the written, spoken and drawn word in the media, as well as the management and design of journalistic information, as part of his future public service profession. A wonderful reference point for a group, an active motivator of the IE School of Communication and a node for the thrilling network of old and new communication students. During the entrance and selection exams, and after completing their studies, students demonstrate that they go beyond their emotional and analytical intelligence, educational baggage, cultural level, thoughtful personality, writing skill, mental dexterity, spatial imagination, decisive orientation, language fluency and entrepreneurial enthusiasm. It has therefore been possible to create the Francis Pisani Scholarship for defense of the digital and independent journalism.
The information, news, opinion and messages contemplated in the media (print, radio, television and film) take us close to other realities that are currently faced by journalists, communicators and designers: an asymmetric world, a diverse society, civil and military conflicts and crises, a model of media business in transition and an increasingly heterogeneous public and audience. We are already used to reading, writing and thinking like Slate, Rue89, Daily Beast, Huffington Post, Oh My News and Soitu, among others.
The most recent aesthetic and language forms are reflected, both on paper and projected in images through photography, television and film. The necessary linguistic forms for understanding how our lives are affected by the social, economic and political impact of globalization on public opinion and freedom of expression. The Media Lab, with its on-campus facilities that include a television, radio, photography and editing studio, allows students to recreate professional teaching and learning spaces, both analogue and virtual.
A greater push towards the mental structure of an independent self-employer rather than towards that of a dependent employee. The more frequent professional outlets are those of digital journalist or blogger, communication director, advertising agency or public relations consultant, creator or expert in communication campaigns, producer, manager, designer and artist of analogue and digital audio-visual content.
