This past Wednesday, October 29th, on the campus of IE Law School the weblog BlogEuropa.eu and the Jean Monnet-IE Chair organized a seminar on ?Europe and the Financial Crisis?. The three panel members were Maria Jesús Nieto, Deputy Director of Regulation at the Bank of Spain, Rafael Pampillon, Director of Economic Analysis atIE and Pablo Diaz de Rábago, Professor of Economics at IE, and expert in regulation of banking panics. The participants impressed upon their listeners the necessity of rethinking regulation and supervision of the global financial market in order to improve innovation and trust in the global financial sector. Further, they discussed and evaluated the different measures adopted by European governments, the EU, and the United States and engaged in an open debate with the audience about the causes of and solutions to the crisis and its impact on the economy and business activity in the coming years.
