Global Judicial Forum

20/12/2010

On Thursday, December 2, 2010, the Center for European Studies-IE, in collaboration with IE Law School and under the direction of Daniel Sarmiento- référendaire at the European Court of Justice, organized the first seminar of the Global Judicial Forum, focused on the relationships between the European Court of Justice and national courts.

The Judicial Global Forum is conceived to be a meeting place for practitioners, in order to expose problems and to exchange ideas related to economic, political and social globalization. Its activities focus particularly on the impact of globalization on the judicial system, litigation techniques and the quality of justice.

After the brilliant presentations of Miguel Poiares Maduro, Professor at the European University Institute in Florence and former Advocate General of the ECJ, Joaquin Huelin Martinez-Velasco, Judge at the Spanish Supreme Court and   Marian Ahumada, Directora General de Coordinación Jurídica del Ministerio de la Presidencia, an interesting discussion opened with the audience, during which judges of the Spanish Supreme Court, prosecutors from the Attorney General, State attorneys and IE Law School professors took the floor.
