CAIA accredits IE Business School Masters in Finance programs

Global alternative investment leader CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Association) has signed an agreement with IE Business School to accredit IE Master in Finance programs. IE is the first business school in Spain to partner with CAIA, and seventeenth worldwide.

The agreement was signed by Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño, Dean of IE Business School, and Keith Black, Director of Curriculum at CAIA, who gave an address on Protecting your Portfolio from Inflation: The Case for Real Assets. It means that IE Business School students and professors will now be able to prepare the CAIA exam, specialized in the field of alternative investment.

“Alternative investments are no longer seen as an exotic or extravagant component of investment portfolios, but rather as structural. Their potential for enabling diversification coupled with attractive profit/risk combinations have fuelled enormous interest in this type of investment ” says Rafael Hurtado, professor of alternative investments at IE Business School.

Laura Merlini, Director of Business Development for EMEA at CAIA Association explained that CAIA is the only globally recognized designation dedicated entirely to alternative investments. “As we speak, we have over 6,000 members in more than 75 countries. In Spain we have 150 members and the designation is very well regarded and valued by local banks and asset managers. If you are interested in advising, managing, investing or servicing alternative investments or if you are keen to know how to add value to a traditional portfolio via alternative asset classes, you should seriously consider earning the CAIA designation.”
