The EU’s Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Research, Carlos Moedas, gave a talk to students of the International MBA and Master in Management programs on "Innovation, the Digital Single Market and Investment".

On October 23, the EU’s Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Research, Carlos Moedas, gave a talk to students of the International MBA and Master in Management programs on "Innovation, the Digital Single Market and Investment". The event was chaired by Marco Trombetta, Vice Dean of Research at IE Business School, and formed part of a series of initiatives organized by the European Commission for information purposes, and to foster dialogue with citizens about its main lines of work.

After the talk, Carlos Moedas also gave an address at the IE Business Leadership Forum, where he examined the EU’s priorities with regard to the Single Digital Market and innovation. The IE Business Leadership Forum serves a platform where key players in the worlds of politics, economy and business share with top managers their vision of the macroeconomic situation, policies, and challenges in different world regions. In recent years speakers have included Robert E. Rubin, former Secretary of the Treasury (US) and Co-President of the Council on Foreign Relations, Madeleine K. Albright, former Secretary of State (US), Montek Ahluwalia, former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and Minister of State for Planning of the Government of India, Güler Sabanci, Chairperson, Sabanci Holding, Turkey, Lucas Papademos, former Prime Minister of Greece, and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore.

In recent months IE Business School has received a visit from Cecilia Malmström, EU Commissioner for Trade. Malmström shared the challenges involved in formulating EU trade policy with a group of students and professors from IE University’s Bachelor and Master in International Relations.  Another recent visitor was Lord Hill, EU Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, who examined the challenges facing Europe with regard to boosting job creation and growth, along with the role of banks and capital markets in funding the economy.
