The Executive MBA has been designed to afford participants an efficient way of working in an environment characterised by complexity, uncertainty and continuous change. Consequently, the experience of the Executive MBA and the Executive MBA On-line at Instituto de Empresa is marked by the following:
A year of intense learning. In such a fast-changing world like today~s, one-year programmes provide a highly demanding accelerated learning process so that students may acquire all the know-how required for business management at the highest levels.
We promote an entrepreneurial spirit not only because entrepreneurs create their own companies, but also because they contribute with their ideas to the growth and improvement of the organisation in which they work.
The programme has a committed international vocation, with the presence of over 20 nationalities on the programme itself and more than 65 nationalities present on our campus.
An eminently practical programme, the case methodology places students in real situations and foments the discussion of the situation in an international environment.
The programme is flexible and caters for students who are unable to travel to Madrid every week.

The on-line version of the Executive MBA involves four periods of physical presence - two of one week and two of two weeks - with two on-line periods in between the first two. This programme begins in February of each year and ends in March of the following year.
A School in permanent contact with the reality of the business world, which makes it possible to make the most of its multiple activities and contacts during and after the programme thanks to a network of over 28,000 alumni.
Together with the other features of the Executive MBA, all these elements have led to the Financial Times considering the Executive MBA as second in Europe and eighth worldwide (FT Executive MBA Survey 20/10/2003).

The value of the Executive MBA and the Executive MBA On-line is based on four fundamental pillars:
A. Social Responsibility. A Commitment to Society
Instituto de Empresa has made a commitment to society. Accordingly, for over three decades now, we have been working in areas such as ethics, social responsibility, sustainable development, diversity management, protection of the environment, etc. Among others, our initiatives include the following:
The Chair in Social Responsibility which is financed by the Alumni Association and works in the research of the importance of ethics in the taking of business decisions.
The Corporate Governance Centre, which acts as an observatory in areas related to Correct Corporate Governance.
The Center for Diversity in Global Management which works in the research of diversity-related matters and their application in the world of business at international level.
· Instituto de Empresa coordinates the Corporate Reputation Forum (CRF), which comprises Agbar, BBVA, Repsol YPF, Telefónica, Ferrovial, Gas Natural, Iberdrola, Iberia, Inditex and Renfe This forum is a meeting place for analysing and diffusing corporate reputation models, tools and trends in business management.
IE is part of Global Compact España, an initiative for the analysis of the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility backed by the UN and composed of 200 companies in Spain. Instituto de Empresa is the General Secretary of this institution.
The Instituto de Empresa Fund in New York and Fundación Instituto de Empresa in Madrid carry out activities to finance talented students aimed at training responsible businessmen and women and, more importantly, those who may promote social change in developing economies, as well as initiatives to promote research in development policies.
IE professors carry out research in areas related to sustainability, social responsibility, ethics, the environment, etc., and are aware of the importance of making society sensitive to the significance of said management areas.
Every year, together with Fundación Ortega y Gasset,Instituto de Empresa awards the Juan Lladó Award , in recognition of the work of Spanish businessmen and women in the field of cultural sponsorship and research. This prize was created in 1984 and since then it has been given to personalities such as Isidoro Álvarez, Plácido Arango, Carlos Ferrer Salat, Jesús de Polanco, Emilio Ybarra, Juan Abelló, José Ferrer Sala, Germán Sánchez Ruipérez, Jordi Clos and Enrique Iglesias.
B. Network
The capacity for establishing a solid network of professional contacts is one of the most appreciated qualities when valuing the executives of the future. This is one of the great assets on offer at Instituto de Empresa. All the students on the programme have to pass a strict admission process where they have to demonstrate their capacity for contributing to the development of the programme and add to the value of the network of former Instituto de Empresa students.

However, once the programme has ended, these contacts must be reinforced and maintained.

With over 28,000 professionals all over the world, the Alumni Association (AA) reactivates, strengthens and, on many occasions, establishes contacts between members of a collective with common interests.

It also promotes the continuous updating and training of its members.

The national and international clubs encourage new relations among the graduates themselves and among the graduates and entities that are linked to Instituto de Empresa. By organising academic activities such as courses, conferences, round tables, debate forums and open days, as well as leisure activities, such as student year reunions, trips, classes and sports competitions, it creates a great number of opportunities for maintaining such an essential network.
C. Executive Skills
The programme affords students sound know-how of the most innovative business management techniques, with special emphasis on new technologies. It also promotes the development of executive skills that are fast becoming the factor that differentiates successful professionals.

Among others, the capacities and skills developed by students on the Executive MBA programme include the following:
Development of global strategic thinkingwhich makes it possible to understand and integrate the company as a whole, as well as the geographical or sectorial environment in which it competes.
Increased precision in the capacity for analysis and synthesis for the systematic and realistic identification of the factors that lead to problems or opportunities, resulting in the correct decision being made.
Ability to use new technologies in business management and decision-taking.
Improvement of the capacity for clear, convincing communication developing presentation techniques for both large audiences and for everyday situations in a company.
Development of the skill of adapting to working in teams made up of people from a diversity of places, professions, educations and cultures.
Skill for reaching a high level of organisational efficiency efficiency in the development of multi-discipline projects implemented by persons located in different environments.
And, as a result of the above skills, the consolidation of the ability to to adopt flexible postures to adapt to change.
