All for one?: European policy coordination in the eurozone crisis and beyond

Sinopsis

The article discusses how the eurozone´s formal and informal requirements for decisions by consensus have hindered its response to the financial/monetary crisis in 2011-2012 and pose challenges for future policy coordination in the event of deeper economic integration. It also highlights how the difficulties of policy coordination affect the overall economic environment for investment and businesses.

It takes a practical approach and includes two interactive exercises that simulate the strategy set by students based on Novartis Spain challenges in 2008. Accountsville

Sinopsis

This multimedia tutorial gives students the opportunity to practice their understanding of IAS 36, relevant to the impairment of fixed assets. Students must complete a series of tasks with the objective of finding out which of the company’s assets are impaired. The tutorial is based around a fictitious town, that of Accountsville, which the student must explore to successfully complete 5 scenarios. For each scenario, the student must find the carrying amount, the recoverable amount and the impairment value, with the help of short interactive exercises. This multimedia material is the Winner of the MERLOT Award for Exemplary Online Learning Resources – MERLOT Classics 2012.
