Pedro Gete is currently Research Fellow at IE Business School and Assistant Professor of Economics at Georgetown University.
Prof. Gete’s research focuses on macroeconomics, finance and monetary economics. His recent work has studied the relationship between housing markets and current account dynamics. He showed that housing booms are larger when a country can run a trade deficit; and that increases in housing demand help to explain recent global imbalances. Prof. Gete has presented his research at different universities, international conferences and policy institutions, including the Bank of France, Bank of Spain, BIS, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, Chicago-Fed, ECB, IMF and World Bank.
Prof. Gete has taught at the graduate level at Chicago-Booth Business School and at Georgetown University; and at the undergraduate level at Georgetown University and at Universidad Carlos III. He speaks English, French and Spanish. He enjoys traveling and playing tennis and soccer.
