Spanish

The main novelties are the online CV and the Job Bank

1. YOUR PROFILE/ CV

To personalise your CV depending on your professional career, you will be able to insert two CVs in Spanish and two in English – until now it was only possible to insert one CV per language – and you will be responsible for choosing their classification (e.g. CV GENERALISTA español or CV Mk Eng or CV MK español).

From now on you will decide which of the two CV models in Spanish or the two in English you are going to use when applying for a job. Thus, you will have more flexibility when adapting your CV to the profile required by the recruiter.

The system has downloaded all the CVs stored on the previous database to the new version. Therefore, if your CV was already on the former version, it will now appear by default under “CV ESP” (if it was in Spanish) and/or “CV ENG” (if it was in English).

The first time that you fill in any of your CVs, you must do so in the order in which the different sections appear. Successively, you will be able to modify or update details, by directly accessing the corresponding section. Remember that you will always have a Help menu to guide you in the following fields:

  • Help: how to fill in each section correctly.
  • Download CV in PDF.
  • View CV: see what the CV looks like in three different formats: standard, extended and comprised (never more than two pages), and the choice of printing it.

The system will allow you to attach a Photograph which you are advised to keep updated.

Depending on the category you belong to, the system will let you insert up to 4 examples of work experience –Junior Profile- or up to eight, in the case of the Senior Profile. In both cases, the maximum length of the CV is 2 pages.
By default, in the Junior Profile the first section that will always appear is Formal Education followed by Professional Experience, whereas in the Senior category you will decide the order.

Another novelty is the section LANGUAGES where apart from stating your level, you may include your language diplomas, time spent abroad or if the language is used for work.

As always, we remind you of the importance of the section PREFERENCES, which helps us most when defining your professional profile, since it is essential to know where you wish to work, in which business area and sector in order to define your profile. This information will be used in an absolutely confidential manner and will never appear on the CV.

Job Questionnaire

As you are well aware, it is absolutely essential that your profile is perfectly updated (current job, contact details, salary range…) in order to provide you with a top-quality service, and also to the companies searching for qualified professionals.

It will only take you a couple of minutes to fill in this section and the information will also be treated with full confidentiality.

E-mail for life

IE provides all the alumni that have studied a Master or Higher Degree Programme with an e-mail address. Although you will have this e-mail address for life, this does not apply to the mailbox, and we will need an e-mail address of your own to forward all the e-mails you receive.
In the event of having never given us an account, or if you are not sure, please use this form to send the information.
Please bear in mind that the Careers Centre will always communicate with you using the e-mail address on your CV.

2. JOB BANK

The website where we publish the different job vacancies managed by the Careers Centre has also been significantly upgraded. As of today, depending on the years of work experience, you will be classified in one of the following two categories:

  • Junior: Students and graduates with 0 to 3 years of experience
  • Senior: Students and graduates with more than 3 years of experience

Remember that as you grow in your professional career you will have to ask us to include you in the Senior category.

When you access the Job Bank, a search engine will appear by default, which will allow you to search for job vacancies according to geographical area, functional area, years of experience required and reference number. By clicking on “Position offered” or “Reference”, you will access its detailed description (requirements, functions, salary…). If you consider that you fulfil the requirements, click on “registration” to be included in the selection process.

Although, according to the nationality and/or location of the recruiter, we will send your CV in Spanish or in English, it is up to you to decide which of the two models of CV in Spanish or of the two in English you will use to apply for the position.

The Job Bank will also keep you informed about which member of the Careers team is in charge of each vacancy, and you may contact them by e-mail -always specifying the vacancy reference number- to clear up any doubts or to provide additional information that can help support your application.

The section “My Offers” allows you to follow up your applications:

  • Open: we are studying the applications, and still haven’t forwarded the CVs to the recruiter. Please remember that the applications will remain activated by default for up to 7 days and that the CVs will be sent on the deadline date that appears on the vacancy (at 9 a.m. on the deadline date the vacancy will be removed from the Job Bank as the selection and forwarding of candidates is being carried out).
  • 72 hours after the deadline date, the system will let you know if your application has been sent or not:
    • If your CV has been sent, you’ll see “SENT” and the number of candidates applying for this position.
    • If your CV has not been sent, you’ll see “NOT SENT”
  • If the recruiter informs us that the interview process has begun and that IE candidates are being interviewed , the following message will appear for ALL students whose application has been forwarded regardless of whether they have been contacted or not for an interview: “We have been informed that IE candidates are presently being interviewed”.
  • Cerrada: el reclutador nos ha comunicado que el puesto está cubierto.

3. RESOURCES

This section contains the resources available to support your job-search and the development of your professional career. There are lists including contact details of national and international Head-hunters, recruitment agencies, articles and presentations with basic information on job-search (writing a CV, a cover letter, essential vocabulary...) , access to Vault guides (guides on  professional careers, industries and companies.), etc…

Finally, we hope that you appreciate these novelties that will help us render a better service. The Careers Management Centre thanks you all for your comments as well as your ongoing support. Please, do not hesitate to contact us if:

  • You have contacts in companies that are not acquainted with our services. We would be delighted to visit them and introduce them to IE and its Careers Management Centre.
