IE School of Communication maintains close and enduring relationships with top communication companies,leading corporations and organizations that recognize IE School of Communication’s excellence, demonstrated in the recruitment of our students. As part of our master programs’ Final Project, students are given an opportunity to apply all the knowledge acquired throughout the master in a real case for a company. Students work in teams under the guidance of IE strategy coaches and they have to act as consultants in order to manage the project.

Dans, Enrique

Professor of Information Systems.

Ph.D. in Management, specializing in Information Systems, Anderson School, UCLA, USA. MBA, IE. BSc, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Post-doctoral studies, Harvard Business School, USA.

Enrique Dans is not afraid to admit he likes to try out every new technological gizmo that comes on to the market. But while this is partly driven by his appetite for gadgets, it also relates to Prof. Dans’ approach to the study of technology and business, in which it’s what exists around him that sparks ideas and theories. “My environment sparks my research, so I want to feel the way the new technology impacts me first," he says. “And I try to keep my research in close contact with reality. I hate ivory towers."

Prof. Dans is also among those who see blogging as a new and important forum through which to air and exchange academic ideas. He is also an avid consumer of information and keeps up with the latest developments in information systems via dozens of online newspapers and journals.
However, this approach comes as no surprise, since the interests pursued by Prof Dans include the new economy, the effects of technology on consumer behavior and the consequences of new technological developments for business in general.

His ideas and research on these areas have been published in international magazines and Prof. Dans' articles about new technologies and their application to the business world appear regularly in the general and financial press—and, of course, on his website.

González Schneeweis, Olaf

MA in Scriptwriting, Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo. Video Producer for the Learning Technologies Department, IE Business School.

Olaf González has spent 12 years working as a director, editor and scriptwriter in the audiovisual sector. After earning a Master’s in Scriptwriting at the UIMP, "Luis García Berlanga" in Valencia, and Film-Editing at the CLCF, Paris, Olaf has worked on several TV programs and adverts in France, Spain and the UK (Team Media, The Body Shop, Avis, Horizon Mars, Canal 9, TVE, etc.). In the summer of 2010 he received an offer from Clap, a French production company to work in Mayotte, Indian Ocean, to produce adverts and documentaries. Once back in Europe, Olaf was awarded with the Bienale 2011, sponsored by Unicaja, Spain, for a series of photographs from Madagascar.

Among his most noted works as an editor and director are the documentary, Erased, Wiped Off the Map (Borrados del mapa, documentos TV, la 2 TV), about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and Double Parked, his first fiction film as a director and writer and his foray into the cinematic discourse. The film has garnered several awards and has been selected for numerous international film festivals such as Toronto, Hamburg, Hannover, Clermont Ferrant, Turin, Melbourne, Madrid, Barcelona, Bogotá DC, and Quito. His second film, 24 Lies, a mockumentary that he co-wrote and co-directed, included the collaboration of Elias Querejeta, Icíar Bollain, José Luis Sampedro, Juan José Millás, Elvira Lindo, and Isaki Lacuesta among other outstanding Spanish writers, producers and directors.

Hillenbrand, Carola

Ph.D. Henley Business School.

Carola is Associate Professor of Organizational Psychology at Henley Business School, Academic Director at the John Madejski Centre for Reputation (JMCR) and Post-Graduate Research Director for the School of Marketing and Reputation. Carola’s research aligns the subjects of responsibility, relationships and resilience with human decision-making, behaviors and emotions. She collaborates with faculty in psychology, governance and leadership to develop multidisciplinary, cross-university and international programs related to long-term behavioral change. At the moment, she works towards launching the JMCR’s ‘Changing Behaviors for Good' Program.

Carola is overseeing a variety of international and large-scale research projects and has, since 2003, advised more than 1,000 managers on conducting applied research projects in their own organizations. Her research has won a number of international awards, including the Keith MacMillan Research Price in 2009, and in 2013 the prestigious Jean Perrien Award for Best Paper in Financial Services in Canada and the Emerald Literati Network Highly Commended Paper Award.
Carola is a certified Coach, a licensed NLP Practitioner and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Prior to joining Henley in 2002, Carola was an international market-research consultant based in Frankfurt where her work covered research into psychological innovation and advertisement across a wide range of products and sectors, covering both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. She continues to work as an adviser with a wide range of industries including service companies, energy companies, and consumer goods companies.

Pieraccioni, Umberto

Master in Economics, LUISS University, Rome.

With extensive experience in American-branded companies, specifically five years at Procter & Gamble, as Brand Manager of the Skin Care and Oral Care categories, and 10 years at Johnson & Johnson, where he was Global Manager of the Sun Care category and later on CEO Italy, Greece and Malta in the Vision Care business. For five years he served as CEO for Adidas Italy, driving significant business growth through marketing and communication and beyond operational business. He applied an innovative approach to sport assets, for clubs like AC Milan and athletes like Kakà, Del Piero and Federica Pellegrini. In this role he managed the merger and relaunch of Reebok Italy, linking the Reebok brand to NBA player Danilo Gallinari.

From 2007 - 2009, Umberto served as President of the Italian Basketball League and CEO of Bwin Italy, the leading online gaming company and sponsor of Real Madrid CF, where he managed the attack of the newly regulated online gaming market and the acquisition of the local leader. He is currently focusing on the following roles: Founder and President of the UP Management company, in partnership with the player Kakà, a company that provides strategic advice to athletes; Founder and President of Famebridge, a company dedicated to the digital brand management of celebrities such as Naomi Campbell and others; Board member of the venture capital AngeLab (for three years he has been President of De Santis, an Italian food chain owned by AngeLab and supported by FC Internazionale players Zanetti and Cordoba).

Pistrui, Joseph

Professor of Entrepreneurship

Joseph Pistrui has more than 25 years of management experience, first working for Bristol-Myers Squibb in the United States (eleven years) and later working with global organizations such as AstraZeneca, BBVA, Bosch, BT, Citi Group, DT, Financial Times, HSBC, Microsoft, Rio Tinto, Royal Dutch Shell, Siemens, Thomson Reuters, Unilever, Vestas, and others (fourteen years to date). Joseph’s contribution to these organizations has been based on his distinctive ability to navigate between the practice of management and a wide-ranging set of management theories.

Much of Joseph’s work has focused on what he calls the “entrepreneurial problem” of growing the top line through innovation-based new business development. From his extensive work with global organizations Joseph has launched the Nextsensing Initiative to help develop insights into one of the most daunting challenges today— how to think in new ways about the present in order to better understand the future—as a way to address the challenges of leading strategic competitiveness in large organizations. His point of view is informed by concepts as wide-ranging as leadership, entrepreneurship, strategic innovation, and design thinking, and promotes a bias towards actions.

Joseph is the Associate Dean for Executive Education at IE Business School in Madrid. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Director of International Custom Programs, and is a professor of the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies at IE. He holds a Visiting Fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, where he lectures and researches issues related to new enterprise formation and innovation as part of the LSE’s Department of Management.

Joseph holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from DePaul University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ferris State University. He was born in Detroit, Michigan USA and has lived and worked in Europe since 1993 and currently resides in Madrid, Spain.

Steck, Christoph

Professor in Public Affairs and Non-Market Strategy. IXMBA, IE Business School. Common and Human Rights Law, University College London. Law, Universität zu Köln.

Associate Professor at IE. Christoph is convinced that the solutions for today's most urgent global issues like Climate Change and poverty will stem from a more intense interaction of the public and private sector. "It will be here, at the borders between the classical spheres of powers, where engagement and innovation need to flourish to develop new ideas for our societies," he says. He believes that the global financial crisis is showing drastically that neither the public nor the private sector alone have the knowledge, abilities and power to tackle the fundamental issues challenging societies and markets world-wide.

A German lawyer specialized in International & European Law, he has developed his professional career in international communication companies working on Regulation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Policy. He has developed Public Affairs strategies targeting governments and regulators on a national and international level, but has also defined and implemented engagement programs with civil societies and NGOs. He is convinced that companies in the era of globalization and Internet need to manage public policy strategies in the so-called "non-market environment" coherent with their market strategies and with the same level of professionalism and vigor if they want to succeed. His specific interest is devoted to the area of public policy for the Internet and he is currently engaged in a working group of the United Nations on the future of the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF). He is currently Director of Public Policy at Telefónica. His past professional experience includes key positions such as Head of Corporate Reputation & Responsibility, and Head of Government Relations & European Regulation for Telefónica O2 in Germany.
