Daniel Kselman

DANIEL KSELMAN

bio:
Daniel Kselman is Academic Director at the IE School of International Relations. He received a PhD in political science from Duke University, where he also received a Masters degree in Economics. His research emphasizes the interactions between, democracy, economic development, and political governance, with a particular focus on the internal organization and operation of political parties. As well, it combines a global focus with case expertise on Turkish politics and society. Daniel's research has been published in top academic journals including Political Analysis, Comparative Political Studies, and Public Choice. He also serves as President of the Minga Foundation, an international NGO in the field of health and economic development with projects in Brazil, Ecuador, Malawi, and Uganda.

ANNA MARRA

Anna Marra is an Italian lawyer, degreed at the University of Milan, Faculty of Law, with a Master in International Relationships at the Institute for Political Studies (ISPI, MIA, Milan). After a period of practice in the United Nations (Terrorism Prevention Branch, Vienna) and in the Secretary of Amnesty International, London, in 2001, she has been serving the Italian Chapter of Transparency International as Executive Director till 2005, coordinating the portfolio of projects in the area of anti-bribery education and prevention, corporate social responsibility and compliance programs. Since 2006, she is a PM trainer and consultant for private and public organizations. Since 2012 Anna is the Director of the Legal Project Management Programs at IE Law School and associate professor in IE Law and Business School. She joined the IE-BIR and IE-MIR in 2015 (IE University).

HAIZAM AMIRAH-FERNÁNDEZ

Haizam Amirah-Fernández holds a BA in Arab Studies from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and an MA in Arab Studies/Political Science on a Fulbright scholarship from Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. He completed his studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He specializes in international relations, political Islam, and transitions to democracy in the Arab world, where he has lived for over sixteen years. Professor Amirah-Fernández has published extensively on Middle Eastern and North African affairs. He has lectured at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Georgetown University, Saint Louis University, Universidad CEU San Pablo, and Universitat de Barcelona, among others.

PhD on Political Science and MSc on Asian Politics (School of Oriental and African Studies, London University). He is Senior Analyst on the Asia-Pacific region at Elcano Royal Institute and Senior Lecturer at the Centre for East Asian Studies of the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has served as external expert for the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Spanish Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence. He has also been a visiting professor at the Beijing Foreign Studies University and at the University of Turku; and visiting researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chengchi National University in Taipei. His research interests are focused on the international relations of East Asia, EU – East Asia Relations, and the domestic and international politics of China. On these topics he has published several books and numerous articles in academic journals, such as The China Quarterly, Journal of Current Chinese Affairs, African and Asian Studies, and The European Journal of East Asian Studies.

Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). Doctor in Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela, has also taught at the Universities of Granada, Santiago, Zaragoza, Cádiz, and Complutense de Madrid, as well at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Juan March Institute, Madrid. Has been Visiting Fellow at the Universities of Harvard, California in Berkeley, Ohio State University, Institut d’Études Politiques-Bordeaux, ICSTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Universidad del Desarrollo (Santiago de Chile), and European University Institute (EUI) and Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane, both in Florence (Italy). He is currently a member of the Academia Europeae.

Waya Quiviger is Executive Director of the Master in International Relations at IE School of International Relations and Director of Special Projects in the Social Impact Management Department at IE Business School. Prior to joining IE, Ms. Quiviger was Director of Participant Relations at Club de Madrid, as well as Project Director for the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society in Madrid. She also worked for the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, as Manager of the Global Leaders for Tomorrow (GLTs) WEF community. Waya Quiviger holds an M.Sc. in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics (LSE), a Master in International Management from the Ecole Des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University (CA). Ms. Quiviger teaches International Organizations and International Affairs in the Master in International Relations and the Bachelor in International Relations as well as various workshops and seminars on social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and design thinking in the International MBA, Master in Management, and Master in Finance. Her research interests include social innovation, social entrepreneurship and international relations.

Laura Tedesco is Associate Professor of Political Science at Saint Louis University/Madrid Campus. She is currently Head of the Political Science Department. She has completed her PhD in International Relations at Warwick University. Dr. Tedesco analyzes contemporary politics in Latin America, especially issues on democracy, political leadership and urban violence. Her latest research was a four-year project, funded by Open Society Institute (Washington DC), on political leaders in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Uruguay.

Miguel Otero-Iglesias is Senior Analyst for the International Political Economy (IPE) at Elcano Royal Institute in Spain and Senior Associate Research Fellow at the EU-Asia Institute at ESSCA School of Management in France. He is a regular visiting research fellow at the Institute of World Economics and POlitics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Previsouly he was Assistant Professor at ESSCA, Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Oxford and Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the London School of Economics. He holds a PhD in IPE from Oxford Brookes University.

FEDERICO STEINBERG

Federico Steinberg is Senior Analyst at the Elcano Royal Institute and Professor of Political Economy at Madrid’s Universidad Autónoma. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma, an MSc in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics and a Master in International Affairs from Columbia University. Between 2002 and 2004 he was involved in a variety of development projects for the World Bank as a consultant in Washington DC, Ghana and Bolivia, as well as at the Executive Office of the Secretary General at the United Nations headquarters in New York. He also teaches regularly at a number of Master´s degrees, including IE business school and ICADE. He is also a frequent contributor to Spanish media, and has been invited to deliver speeches in more than ten countries.
