Internships

Brief Description

Students have the opportunity to complete an internship as one of the options available during the Program and after finishing their MBA (see the Job Market Immersion Program below).

Info Session

There will be an info session to discuss all the details of the internships, on April 23rd.

Timeline

Info Session: April 23rd

Selection deadline: September 8th / Submission deadline: Sep 16th

IMPORTANT: Students will not be able to participate in the Global Immersion Month.

REQUIREMENTS

Students are given significant freedom to define their internships, but must keep the following requirements in mind:

  1. Students performing an internship must be enrolled in the “official” degree (IE University).
  2. The work performed aligns with MBA-level criteria and adds value to the student’s professional development.
  3. The role is full-time.
  4. The internship must last between 7 and 13 weeks, depending on the option.

As part of the application process, the above information will be confirmed both by the student (proposal) and the company (agreement).

During your recruitment process, please inform the company of the submission deadline. All interviews and paperwork must be completed before September 8. To be officially approved and recognized, both the Internship Agreement and the Annex must be fully completed, signed by the student, the company, and the university, and submitted by this date

The Internship Agreement is a formal, legally binding document signed by IE University, the host company. It outlines the general terms and framework of the internship. The Annex is a required supplement that details the specific conditions of the internship—such as duration, responsibilities, work schedule, and supervision—and must also be signed by the student, the company, and the university.

As soon as you receive an internship offer, you must request approval from Program Management by completing the official form HERE. Filling out this form triggers the process—IE will then prepare and circulate the Internship Agreement and Annex for signature by all three parties.

You can reach out to imbainternships@ie.edu if you have doubts on how to complete the form.

Remember, your grade depends on the quality of the deliverables. Succeeding in the internship but neglecting the deliverables can affect your grade negatively.

Refer to the instructions and the information from your internship tutor to ensure nothing is missed.

  1. Application Deadline & Availability: It is important the company understands your constraints before you enter into a recruitment process. Please avoid creating false expectations by providing the employer with the time by which you will need to have an offer, as well as your dates of availability.
  2. Deliverables: The company needs to be aware of the academic obligations during the internship program. Students are required to deliver assignments which refer to the student’s experience at the internship and requires specific details. Additionally, the company will need to complete a feedback form at the conclusion of the internship. Should the company wish to enter into a non-disclosure agreement with IE, we have prepared the following confidentiality agreement that we are happy to sign.
  3. Work Visa: All students that have a valid NIE are eligible to perform an internship within Spain. However, in countries where a student will need a work visa (this must be verified by the student), it is the responsibility of the company and the student to obtain the correct working permits. IE is happy to provide documentation that is needed from the academic institution for the purposes of the visa application.

Students need to be proactive in searching for an internship early on in the IMBA Program. While the Talent & Careers team works with existing and new recruitment partners on developing internship opportunities, it is important students do not play a passive role. In addition to specific calls for applications, Talent & Careers is happy to give advice to students regarding their internship search, but in the end the responsibility falls on the student to find their ideal internship position.

Be sure to refer to the Talent & Careers Portal for useful resources for starting the internship search. To get you started, below you can find some Talent & Careers resources that students may use to start their internship search (click on the logo to connect):
