FAQs
What is financial aid?
Our department offers financial support to help you pay for your yearly tuition fees at IE University. This support is channelled through the IE Foundation’s scholarship program and through special funding conditions which will be studied according to each individual case. Our department advises Spanish students when applying for state or regional grants. IE University is looking for students with entrepreneurial spirit and academic potential. Academic excellence is the most important factor involved when awarding scholarships.
What types of financial aid does IE University offer?
IE University offers different types of financial aid for Spanish and international students. We have a fund of over €2.5 million which we give out to students in scholarships for academic excellence, the IE Fellows program and IE Foundation scholarships amongst others. All these scholarships and financial aid are aimed at students with a solid personal and academic track record whatever their nationality.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
You can apply for up to three IE University scholarships. However, the University will only award one scholarship per candidate, unless other exceptional circumstances are involved.
What types of financial aid are unique to IE University?
IE University Scholarships and Financial Aid are unique to our university. You need to have been provisionally or definitively admitted to apply for them.
What would I need to do at IE University if I was awarded an IE Fellows scholarship?
The IE Fellows program gives our best students the chance to complement their Bachelor degree by taking part in cooperation projects in exchange for a scholarship which helps them to pay for the cost of their studies. These scholarships provide students with access to internal and external professional networks which will help their professional development and give them the chance to do first-class internships in summer.
Where can I find information about other funding programs?
Our financial aid department advises Spanish students when applying for state or regional scholarships and grants. This document includes information about grants and scholarships available in other institutions for European and non-European students who want to study in Spain. To find out whether there are other grants available, contact the Ministry of Education in your country of origin.
How and when can I apply for financial aid?
All candidates need to send a letter with their scholarship application for every scholarship they apply for together with a copy of their admissions letter and a recent curriculum vitae. The letter should explain why they believe they deserve the scholarship.
Students will also have to specify if they have applied for the scholarship based on their academic merits or for financial reasons. If you have applied for the scholarship for financial reasons, you will have to demonstrate your family's financial situation.
The Scholarship Committee will meet four times before the start of the 2013-2014 academic year. The deadlines to apply for an IE University scholarship are:
Selection Round I: December 15th, 2012
Selection Round II: March 15th, 2013
Selection Round III: May 15th, 2013
Selection Round IV: July 15th, 2013
Remember that the €2.5 million funding available will decrease as scholarships are awarded by the Scholarship Committee at each of the four selection rounds. As you need to have been admitted to IE University to apply for one of these scholarships, we advise you to start the admissions process as soon as possible.
When will I know if I've been given a scholarship?
Our Financial Aid Department will notify all decisions taken by IE University's Scholarship Committee two weeks after each selection round.
Will my personal details be kept confidential?
Your personal details will be included in an IE University automated data file to keep you informed about our activities. You can exercise your right to access, correct, cancel and object to this data in the terms set out in the Spanish Data Protection Law 15/1999, dated December 13th, by writing to IE University’s Admissions Department (Cardenal Zúñiga 12, 40003 Segovia, Spain) or by e-mail to soportededatos@ie.edu. Your personal details will not be used for any other purpose and we will not forward them to any other organizations.
Will my grades affect the continuity of my scholarship?
Every year, you will have to justify that you deserve the funding you have been given so as to continue receiving it. You will have to pass all the subjects you have enrolled in and demonstrate your academic and personal development year after year.
Who can apply for financial aid?
We encourage all students to apply for the funding that best suits their needs at IE University. If you think you fulfill the requirements set out in the call for applications, send your funding application to our Financial Aid Department.
Can I apply for an IE University scholarship if I already have external funding?
Of course. You can apply for up to three IE University scholarships even if you have already applied for other external funding. IE University financial aid programs are compatible with other government grants and scholarships given by other organizations, as long as they do not exceed 100% of the total yearly fees.
Does IE University have funding programs for foreign students?
Your nationality is not important when applying for our financial aid programs. IE University scholarships are available to all students with a good academic and personal track record.
