A general introduction to the study of communication: history of communication theory and research, analytical models, and empirical evidence on the emergence, functions, uses and effects of mass and new media. Our goal is to provide students with the conceptual tools to critically evaluate contemporary and past communication research and also to be able to develop communication strategies and adapt these strategies to new audiences and contexts.
