With the support of leading tech sector companies, IE University organizes events for Girls in ICT Day

IE University has teamed up with leading tech companies to celebrate Girld in ICT Day, an international event aimed at raising encouraging young women to consider a career in technology. Girls in ICT Day, organized by the International Telcommunications Union, aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

IE University is the academic partner of Construyendo el Futuro #MakeWhatsNext, an event led by Microsoft’s Iberian division, along with other technology companies, not-for-profit organizations, and networks of professional women. This year’s event will bring some 200 girls and young women with an interest in technology together on Thursday April 28 at the Fundación Giner de los Ríos in Madrid to to share their passion for technology and explore cutting edge technology projects that are changing the world. The opening address will be made by Susana Camarero, the Spanish Secretary of State for Social Services and Equality, along with the president of Microsoft Ibérica, Pilar López.

Dr. Silvia Leal of IE University will lead a discussion about women’s leadership role in digital innovation. The event will be paired with a mentoring program of university students who want to make a career in the sector, in which Teresa Ramos, the director of Information Systems Management at IE University, a new course that will begin in October 2016, and designed to train professionals able to meet the challenges of the digital era.

IE - REINVENTING HIGHER EDUCATION
