IE University and Brown University are pleased to invite candidates from the humanities to apply for the International Teaching Fellowship (ITF) for the academic year 2012-13. The ITF provides the opportunity to teach in Spain at IE University in Segovia, Spain as a fellow of the IE School of Arts and Humanities. The fellow will also be affiliated with the Cogut Center for the Humanities at Brown University. The fellowship offers the opportunity to develop and implement innovative curricula in one of Europe’s foremost professional degree-granting institutions while also providing time for research and career development.

This year Hay festival will feature great speakers such as Eduardo Mendoza, Rüdiger Safranski, Lord Desai, Vicente del Bosque, Bjärke Ingels, Sharmila Tagore, Pérez Reverte, Upamanyu Chatterjee, Iñaki Gabilondo and Juan Luis Cebrián. The Festival of ideas and creativity will once again provoke an open and pluralistic reflection on the transformation of social and economic models, leadership, communication, the freedom of expression in the digital age, bullfighting as a cultural phenomenon, the role of women in Arab revolutions and sustainable architecture.

The Board of Governors of IE University has today appointed Salvador Carmona as the institution’s new rector, a position he will assume on September 1. Carmona will take over from Juan Luis Martínez, the outgoing rector, who has accepted a proposal to work on institutional and strategic development initiatives in the city of Cordoba, his hometown. The new rector enjoys international recognition as an academic and as a manager of educational organizations.

Today the Hay Festival, Fundación AXA, Goethe-Institut Madrid, IE University and Segovia’s Esteban Vicente Museum presented the agreement they have signed for the joint organization of activities for the sixth edition of Hay Festival Segovia. Said activities include the Dos Voces Libres (Two free voices) session, a conversation between Rüdiger Safranski and Juan Luis Cebrián, and the inauguration of an exhibit by artist Anselm Kiefer from the María José Jove Foundation collection.
