Admitted Members of the Class of 2017 sample what life will be like at IE University during the IExPEERience

The IExPEERience is a special event for admitted students which allows them to really understand how it feels to be a part of the IE University community. The event runs over three days and gives all attendees a chance to sample classes, workshops and debates as well as to get to know their future professors and fellow classmates. Have a look at some photos from the last IExPEERience to see what participants got involved in!

  Mauri Eemeli Lati

Studying: Business Administration

Ever since the age of 9 when he was running a lemonade stand outside his home, Mauri has long aspired to one day set up his own company. “At IE University I hope to learn ways to magnify my existing talents in creating and organizing ideas into skills that I can apply to a career in the business world.” He has observed and learned a great deal about the nature of sports management and wants to connect his future business enterprise with something he is passionate about. Mauri studied at United World College, USA, and wanted to continue to study in an international environment where he will establish a network of contacts who share similar goals.

 
 

 

  Claudia Llovet Rausell

Studying: Business Administration

Though having grown up in the Spanish coastal city of Valencia, Claudia has been exposed to different cultures and languages studying at the French High School of Valencia. During her summer breaks, she traveled through Europe and to the U.S. which fuelled her love for connecting with people. “I’m the kind of person that adapts easily to any situation, culture, person or country.” Claudia is determined to develop a successful international career where she will be able to lead and manage in any type of business environment.

 
 

 

  Vegard Skaar Haveland

Studying: Business Administration

Vegard attended United World College Atlantic, UK; an extension of his years growing up surrounded by different languages, religions and nationalities at home. He has always been resourceful and full of ideas, using his spare time to work on small business ventures that he could run from his computer at home. Vegard has traveled around the world, which includes time spent in India where he volunteered at an orphanage in a remote village. He is a qualified life guard, kayak instructor and children’s swimming instructor. Apart from studying the BBA, during his time at IE University he also aims to become fluent in Spanish and start his own business.

Studying: Architecture

Ana completed her IB diploma in the UK, where she lived and studied in an international environment. She has always been active in the world of design and art, and worked with her father in his architectural studio. Ana has continually enriched her cultural sphere by traveling to visit architectural wonders around the world. "I believe architects have the power to make a change, to create sustainable living, to think towards the future and modify the present." Always ready to take on challenges, after graduating from IE University she aims to gain a master's degree and focus her studies on sustainable building that would improve living conditions.

Studying: Dual Degree Business + Law

Deiene is a gifted painter and writer. She has won several prizes for the short novels which she writes in both English and Basque. For Deiene, being multilingual as well as having an international education are aspects she considers indispensable to a successful professional career. She considers herself an ambitious person who perseveres to achieve her goals. She has learned four languages fluently and after her studies at IE University she aims build a career as an international professional who has the knowledge and skills to work worldwide.

Cécile has been performing on stage since the age of 4. Theater, dance and acting have always been her main passions, along with creative writing such short stories, drafting speeches and writing songs or poetry. “But my core interest is people and all forms of communication and interaction, whether it be in the world of entertainment, entering into a role and projecting that character to the audience, or the cut and thrust of world affairs that I have experienced in a modest way via the Model United Nations.” She is interested in Sociology and Anthropology and chose the Bachelor in Communication because of its international orientation that integrates her own intercultural background.

Louis was born a US citizen and has lived there his entire life, yet he has always been in an international environment. At home, Louis grew up speaking French with his father, German with his mother, and in English with his brother, while at the German School Washington D.C. he interacted with students who came from all different cultures. “While learning four languages at the same time might seem extremely difficult for a child to do, my family always emphasized the importance of learning diverse languages to serve a purposeful life in the international community. My linguistic skills have helped build great social bridges between strangers and myself throughout my life.” With both of his parents being CEOs of their own companies, he has always been exposed to all aspects of the business world, making it his lifelong dream to pursue a career in the field of business.

Studying: Dual Degree BBA + Laws

Alicia lived in Germany until 2009, when she chose to leave the Munich International School and embark on a new experience at Haileybury College. Through her assertiveness and determination, she strives to be an entrepreneur, enabling her to have independence and control over her life. For her, studying the Dual Degree instead of only the BBA was an easy choice. “The ability to understand, and actively work within the legal system is essential to any entrepreneur in business, and subsequently, its success depends on this knowledge.” She has had the opportunity to work as a sales representative for Bavariashop GmbH during Oktoberfest, enabling her to develop stronger teamwork, coordination, and interpersonal skills. Apart from her strong drive to be a successful entrepreneur, Alicia is an art enthusiast, a passionate skier, and a world traveler.

Studying: Bachelor in Architecture

After graduating from the Swiss School in São Paulo, he took off to Europe to embark on a backpacking trip through 15 countries and 34 cities. This experience helped open his eyes to how diverse the world is. “Learning about different cultures and manners not only increased my knowledge of the world and the different kinds of people in it, but also showed me how open minded I can be, being willing to learn and respect different perspectives and ways of living. I was able to comprehend how many different lifestyles exist in each part of the world, and sometimes, even different ways of life in one single country.” After studying at IE University, Lucas dreams of being able to open an international architecture firm that will impact and inspire people all over the world through art and design.
