Lucy P. Marcus Joins IE Business School as Professor of Leadership and Governance

The Anglo-American board chair and non-executive director who challenges conventional wisdom both inside and out of the boardroom, Marcus has been recognized for setting the agenda on future proofing boardrooms and companies around the world. She speaks and writes about corporate governance, ethics and leadership for the Harvard Business Review, Reuters and other leading global publications.

As adjunct professor, Marcus will teach in a variety of programs at IE Business School, including the flagship International MBA and the IE Brown Executive MBA, the latter being a unique program for senior managers taught jointly by faculty from IE Business School and Brown University.

Marcus also serves as non-executive chair of the Mobius Life Sciences Fund, chair of the Mobius Life Sciences Fund Investment Panel, and non-executive director and chair of the board audit committee of BioCity Nottingham. She is co-founder and served as a judge and chair of the board of the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards, and is also on the board of the Wellesley College Business Leadership Council.  She is the co-founder and chair of "Leadership in Conflict" which is working to develop leaders in conflict and post-conflict zones.

Marcus has been recognized for her ground breaking work in leadership and governance. She was the recipient of the 2011 Yale University "Rising Star of Corporate Governance" Award,  and was selected for one of the 2011 National Association Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship 100 lists for promoting boardroom excellence. She has been shortlisted for the 2011 "Thinkers 50" list of most important living management thinkers, and for the Thinkers 50 "Future Thinkers Award".  She was also recently voted one of 6 of "Britain's Best Connected Women" in the UK Institute of Directors' Director Magazine.

Marcus was also a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow, and is a fellow of the Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellowship Program, and a fellow of the British-American Project. The Independent newspaper ranked Lucy as 43rd in their "Most Powerful Britons on Twitter" and she has been featured as "Director of the Month" in Director Magazine.  Marcus also serves on the Steering Committee for The Wall Street Journal Task Force on Women in the Economy. She is great demand as a speaker on global economic trends and best practices for corporate governance and leadership, private equity, venture capital, entrepreneurship, technology, and women in business.

A dual American and British citizen, she holds a B.A. from Wellesley College (Wellesley, Massachusetts) and an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, England).
