Before your first face-to-face period in Madrid, you will have the chance to participate in a virtual pre-program session to familiarize yourself with fundamental concepts. Helping students better prepare for the program, the pre-program consists of a Financial Accounting course and it is available 3 weeks prior to the program opening.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

The main objective of the pre-program in financial accounting is to provide students with an introduction to core concepts in accounting. The course focuses on the decision-making framework used for developing financial statements as well as the process of accumulating, identifying, measuring and registering financial information.

ENTREPRENEURIAL MANAGEMENT

From the conception of a business opportunity to its implementation as a new venture, this course provides an overview of the entrepreneurship by focusing on the attributes of entrepreneurial opportunities and the need to gather resources in order to convert those them into ventures. Students will learn to evaluate entrepreneurs and their business plans and will work in teams to create their own business plan for a new venture.

This process implies careful market selection and the examination of an organization’s role within the value chain. Students will also learn to conduct strategic analyses of diversified corporations.

The second term, Leading & Executing, prepares you to lead people and execute your vision. After the second residential period in Madrid, you’ll get started on the Executing your Strategy module. FINANCIAL DECISION MAKING

Participants learn how to obtain and administer financial resources at the lowest possible cost. This course will also look at how investment can be used to maximize economic and strategic benefits, without ever losing sight of the risks involved. Upon completion, participants will be equipped with a practical knowledge of financial analysis, short-term financial planning, investment analysis, cost of capital, strategic and financing structures, and financial markets.

TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION MANAGEMENT

The goal of this course is to provide future managers with a thorough understanding of the information systems most relevant to their organizations. Additionally, they will develop a clear vision of the technological trends in the development of systems, criteria and best practices within organizations, which consequently are related to the use of technology in management. Participants will learn more about the role of information technologies and systems in the entrepreneurial process, ultimately using these insights to better understand how they can impact their organization or professional career.

MARKETING STRATEGY AND PLAN

This course familiarizes students with the design and development of marketing strategies based on prior knowledge related to policies and product management tools, as well as price, communication and distribution. Through the use of business cases, the course explores how decision-making processes are affected by uncertainty, allowing students to explore a range of sales and marketing management decisions in a real-world context.

MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING

This course helps students develop an understanding of the relationship between costs and managerial decision-making. Participants will learn about existing relationships between operations and costs within an organization, while developing an understanding of the processes and systems designed to determine the costs of the products or services offered. Participants will do all of this while learning how to apply the cost allocation system that best fits an organization’s strategic and decision-making needs.

CREATING VALUE THROUGH OPERATION

Participants will study the role of operations in creating a competitive advantage and profitability within an organization. This course also teaches the skills needed to prioritize long-term, sustainable processes. In addition, students will learn to structure the flow of personnel, materials, costs and information in order to enhance value and productivity. Upon completing this course, students will have a solid understanding of the strategic importance of operations management. The course will also cover advanced approaches to planning and operations control.

ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURING

This course teaches students how to identify a business opportunity, design a value proposition, and propose the development of a tangible solution, product and/or service, all with the aim of gaining their target customer’s approval. Furthermore, they learn how to gather information relevant for decision-making processes and develop a strategy for a market approach that can be shared with potential investors.

CORPORATE FINANCE

The objective of this course is to provide participants with a thorough knowledge of the financial concepts applicable to organizations and corporate finance processes.

STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION

The fundamental objective of this course is to formulate and transmit a series of models, approaches, tools and practical recommendations for optimizing effectiveness at the general management level. Exercising power during strategic implementation requires managers to be sensitive to various factors, such as structural design, governance policies, levers of change and corporate culture, among others. This course emphasizes skill development related to relationship management, strategic thinking and change leadership.

MANAGEMENT CONTROL

Management control is a basic system designed to ensure the maximum optimization of resources—it allows senior management to guide an organization’s activities towards achieving established objectives. This course aims to develop and analyze the various processes produced within this system, such as planning and establishing objectives, communicating those objectives and evaluating the results as a means to gather feedback on the overall control process.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

The operational system and design of an organization should be aligned with its strategy. In order to bring these two aspects together, it is crucial to analyze and understand a number of factors, including: product and service design, organization of workload, long- and medium-term management of industrial companies, integrated supply chain management, planning for operational needs, quality control, and the management of technology and innovation. This course helps students to identify these key aspects and learn how to leverage them in order to drive change within their organization.
