Bob Chapman, CEO of Barry-Wehmiller at IE University in Madrid

Last Tuesday February 25th the IE Center for Corporate Learning Innovation had the honor to host two events with Mr. Bob Chapman, CEO of Barry-Wehmiller company and his team.

The initiative counted with the support and deep collaboration of IE Corporate team together with our friends from MRC International training, company that coordinated the overall visit to Spain of Barry-Wehmiller team.

Mr. Chapman, recently named third best Chief Executive in the world by Marcel Schwantes, is an inspirational CEO who has established a unique people driven culture within his organization under the name: ‘Truly Human Leadership’.

AFTERNOON FACE-TO-FACE PRESENTATION AND Q&A FOR 100 ATTENDANTS

Mr. Chapman and his team starred two knowledge-sharing sessions at IE:

A corporate lunch with 15 Spanish CEOS followed by a face-to-face presentation and Q&A for 100 attendants at IE Madrid Campus. The afternoon event gathered together 12 Spanish Human Resources Directors with a wide representation of our students and IE staff members.

Barry-Wehmiller CEO shared his perspective on TRULY HUMAN LEADERSHIP leaving us with a priceless set of key messages as:

• 'Leadership is the stewardship of people who are entrusted to you in your life.'
• 'Management is the manipulation of others for your own benefit. Therefore, we don't need managers in our organizations but leaders who care about the wellbeing of people.'
