GovTech Venture Day
Auditorio Rafael del Pino, Calle Rafael Calvo, 39A
Technology is evolving faster than ever. Trends such as advanced robotics, cloud computing, big data, smart grids, and Artificial Intelligence are radically changing the business landscape, reshaping the nature of our economy, and changing the boundaries of what is possible and what is not. Such technologies bring enormous challenges to society, in terms of job-creation, security and sustainability. But they also provide powerful opportunities to governments and enterprises that, if correctly used, could help us reach unprecedented levels of prosperity.
With the aim of facilitating that process, IE’s School of International Relations and its Center for the Government of Change are launching the first GovTech Venture Day in Spain, a cutting-edge, highly competitive program designed to support the identification and development of start-ups that are using new technologies to help governments and enterprises that work with public institutions in tackling some of the most pressing problems of our age.
In the coming months, we will select 6 start-ups based on their originality, financial viability, and ability to have a positive impact on major social challenges such us climate change, growing physical and digital insecurity, the rise in inequality, and social vulnerability among others.
Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to a selected audience in Madrid composed of investors, government officials, business pioneers, and representatives of key industries. The winner will also have the chance to test its technology in real institutions and meet world-leading experts in their field to receive advice, insights and best practices.
Our goal is to create real networking and investment opportunities for those entrepreneurs that have ideas that can truly help both the private and the public sectors to create a fairer, more secure, and prosperous world.
IE Venture Days
IE Venture Days showcase and celebrate the best of IE and the CGC’s entrepreneurial spirit. They are host to international start-up competitions where the best ideas and investors can connect, share experiences and create new opportunities.
In the last years, more than 15 million Euros have been raised in IE Venture Days only in Madrid, reaching thousands of investors world-wide.
Every Venture Day event is a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to raise funds from local and regional investors, and for investors to get access to quality deal flow leading to the continued development and empowerment of local and international start-up ecosystems. From San Francisco to Shanghai, Venture Days have been bringing together quality deal flow, innovative companies and the IE Alumni network of over 50,000 students and entrepreneurs and investors from the local ecosystems.
Recent participating Venture Day companies have included: Microsoft, Santander, Pearson, Ooredoo, Silatech, DBS Bank, Facebook and Google.
