Carlos Lastra Anadon

Stanford

Carlos Lastra did his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford and completed a PhD in Social Policy and Government at Harvard University. Carlos also worked as a consultant with McKinsey and Company for several years, both for private companies and governments in Spain, Latin America and the Middle East.

His research interests lie in education and the role it can have in pursuing desirable societal outcomes (e.g. innovation, business creation, curbing societal inequality) as part of an integrated economic policy that makes societies more resilient to technological change and globalization. He combines academic research with the practical development of such ideas, most recently by being the founding research director of Generation, a large multi-sector training program present in five countries and aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment for young people as part of the McKinsey Social Initiative.
