Technology is evolving faster than ever affecting all industries. With Education is nodifferent: trends such as Mobile Education, Immersive Experience, Internet of Things, Blockchaina nd Artificial Intelligence will radically change the educational landscape worldwide, reshaping the nature of teaching and learning in the next decade.

Such technologies, combined with new practices and new kind sof interaction will bringe normous challenges to society in terms of job-creation and sustainability. But they will also provide powerful opportunities to education institutions and its partner organizations ,allowing countries to reach unprecedented levels of education.With the aim of facilitating that process, IE University, FGV EAESP and Google organize the first EdTech Venture Day in São Paulo, a cutting-edge, highly competitive program designed to identify and support startups that have the ability to establish a positive impact on major challenges faced by educational institutions today.

In the coming months, we will select 5 start-ups based on their originality, financial viability, and ability to have a positive impact on major challenges for society, including secondary education, technical and professional education and higher education, among others. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to a selected audience in São Paulo composed of investors, government officials, business pioneers, and representatives of key educational institutions. They will also have the chance to meet world-leading experts in their fieldsand receive adviceandinsights and learn from best practices. Our goal is to create real networking and investment opportunities for those entrepreneurs that have projects that can truly help all parties of the educational ecosystem in having better access to quality, sustainable and efficient technological tools and educational processes.

     Who can pitch?

    We are interested in supporting inclusive innovators and start-ups that are using technology to solve important challenges faced by universities, schools, training institutes, and companies, in a wide range of areas and scales. We are particularly interested in solutions that leverage the power of new technologies, such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, machine learning, cloud computing, and online learning.

    Start-ups must also meet the following criteria:

    • Innovative – product/service, business model, and/or route to market
    • Scalable – international commercial potential & scalable business model
    • Team – relevant skills & experience mix
    • Market – clear & large market opportunity
    • Status – must have full time dedicated team and product/service in the market with early traction (stakeholders and/or users)
  • What's the prize?

    For 2018-2019´s Venture Days, the winner of the Startup Competition will have access to a 50% scholarship for one of the IE High Impact Online Programs (HiOP). The winner will choose the program they prefer, and the scholarship will apply to the entire winning Startup team (up to a limit of 10 team members). The winner startup will have a term of 6 months from the Venture Day celebration to enroll in the program. More info about the HiOPs here.

    Additionally, the 5 finalist Startups will have access to a 30% scholarship for one of the IE High Impact Online Programs (HiOP). The 5 finalists will choose the program they prefer and will have a term of 2 weeks from the Venture Day celebration to enroll in the program.

    IE is pleased to announce a new partnership with Amazon Web Services. Through this collaboration the winner of each Venture Day will receive: 

      • $10,000 in promotional credits to use for any Amazon Web Services, valid for two years
      • $5,000 in premium support, valid for one year
      • 80 credits to access labs (valued at $80)

    For each finalist in each Venture Day:

      • $3,000 in promotional credits to use for any Amazon Web Services, valid for two years
      • $5,000 in premium support, valid for one year
      • 80 credits to access labs (valued at $80)

    For all startups that complete the formula for the Startup Competition:

      • $1,000 in promotional credits to use for any Amazon Web Services, valid for two years
      • Freee premium support subscription, valid for two months
      • 80 credits to access labs (valued at $80)

    In addition, the winner of each Venture Day is given the chance to pitch on IE’s stage in the South Summit in order to win a full Pass to the Event (Access to the investor Den, conferences in all stages, one on one meetings and matchmaking service with investors and big corporations, etc) taking place in beginning of october 2019.

    What does that imply for my startup ? 

    The wining startup of the Tech Venture Day Shenzhen will be invited to Madrid on IE Business School’s campus for a 4 days acceleration program in order to prepare their pitch for the South Summit.

    They will then be pitching with the winner of each & every Venture Day organized worldwide.
