Federico Esper

Director General Market Intelligence, Ente Turismo de Buenos Aires

He has been in the tourism sector for more than 15 years and specializes in the development and management of international and national destinations, market research and training.

Federico Esper is the General Director of Market Intelligence and Observatory of the Tourism Entity of the City of Buenos Aires. He is responsible for the implementation of innovative knowledge management projects such as the implementation of a Tourist Intelligence System (SIT), which makes Buenos Aires the first city in the Americas with its own development of an applied Big Data tool. to tourism.

For more than 6 years, Federico has been an international official of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Madrid, where he has advised on issues of tourism policy and participated in tourism development projects with organizations international organizations, national governments and companies in the sector. In addition, he has coordinated the organization of technical meetings on tourism with local work teams in India, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

He has coordinated and collaborated in the publication of several publications of the WTO on sustainable tourism, tourism marketing, cultural tourism and heritage conservation.

Previously he had been Research Director of the Tourism Agency of Buenos Aires, where he was in charge of the creation and development of the Tourist Observatory of the City, as a key tool for the design of sectoral policies.

He has lectured at international congresses in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay, and has been a visiting professor in postgraduate and master’s degrees in Spain, Mexico and Argentina.

Currently, Federico Esper is Director of the Master’s Degree in Economy and Tourism Development at the National University of San Martin (UNSAM, Argentina).

In turn, he is a Member of the Expert Panel of the WTO.

Besides having a Master’s degree in Tourism Management and Management from the University of Alicante, Spain, he has also obtained a Master’s Degree in Cultural Management from the Ortega y Gasset University Institute of the Complutense University of Madrid. He has a degree in Demography and Tourism from the Universidad Argentina John F. Kennedy.
