Carlos Mas was born in Valencia, Spain. He studied economics at the University of Valencia, and earned the Certified Chartered Accountant qualification and an MBA at ICADE Business School (University of Comillas). He also completed the Management Development Program (PDD) at IESE Business School (University of Navarra).

He joined PwC in 1985 and became partner in 1996. He served as the Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC Spain from 2006 to 2015, and held several other positions in Assurance and Advisory, the Global Strategy Council, and the EMEA Leadership Team. Prior to joining IE, he was the Global Strategy Leader and Family & Entrepreneurial Businesses Champion (Spanish Speaking Markets).
His primary role at the IE Foundation is to develop and lead the new Strategic Plan 2017-2020 with a special focus on Family Business and fostering alliances with key partners. He also currently serves on the boards of several other organizations, including the Advisory Board of IE University. He is married and has two daughters
