A crisis can often be a catalyst for a necessary change. The international crisis precipitated by the coronavirus has brought new attention to challenges that have not been properly addressed at the global level. At the same time, the crisis presents new opportunities for Africa, which, in the midst of this global pandemic, is taking steps to minimize the impact of the virus and make the continent stronger in the long run. In this podcast, Gayle Allard, Professor of Economics at IE Business School, discusses these topics with Fadel Jaoui, Chief Research Economist at the African Development Bank. This is the first episode of ‘Notes on a Continent’, a new series launched by the IE Africa Center and IE Insights. ‘Notes on a Continent’ is a multi-media series that brings leading African voices into topics of global impact.
