The German-Spanish Association of Jurists Opens Its Annual Congress at the IE University Campus in Segovia
The German Ambassador to Spain, Maria Margarete Gosse, took part in the opening ceremony.
IE University hosted the official opening of the 39th Annual Congress of the German-Spanish Association of Jurists from June 19 to 21 at its Segovia campus. The event was held in the Chapter Hall of the Convent of Santa Cruz la Real, the historic site of the university, and featured speeches by the president of the association, Lutz Carlos Moratinos Meissner; the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Spain, Maria Margarete Gosse; the Segovia City Councillor for Urban Planning and Heritage, Alejandro González Salamanca; the Vice-Rector for Students at IE University, Miguel Larrañaga; and the Dean of IE Law School, Soledad Atienza.
Jurists, Judges, and Scholars
The congress featured an academic program focused on the comparative analysis of Spanish and German law. Topics discussed included tax residence, directors’ liability in the context of corporate governance, precautionary measures, and international labor law. Sessions were led by jurists, judges, and professors from universities and law firms in both countries. In addition to academic sessions, the program also included cultural activities and guided visits.
The event fully reflected IE Law School’s commitment to comparative law, global thinking, and critical legal analysis from multiple perspectives.

Founded in 1984, the German-Spanish Association of Jurists organizes this forum annually with the aim of strengthening cooperation between jurists from both countries and fostering the exchange of legal, academic, and professional knowledge.
