About me

My name is Sara Rodríguez and I was born in Toledo, where I began studying law. While completing my degree, I spent my summers tutoring kids in England. I finished my undergraduate degree in Madrid and decided to complement that with the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas at IE Law School. Currently, I’m working as a trainee at Cases & Lacambra.

Which areas of law are you most passionate about? Has your outlook changed since completing the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas?

As an undergrad, I always enjoyed administrative law the most. I did all of my electives in this area, as well as my final degree project. The Doble Máster en Abogacía y Asesoría Jurídica de Empresa allowed me to discover new areas of knowledge outside of my undergraduate studies that are extremely important to our potential clients. Some of those subjects include electives like derecho concursal, reestructuraciones de deuda, project finance and procesal bancario. The dual degree encouraged me to change course, so I’m now moving my practice into the field of financial consulting.

You worked within the civil registration department at the Spanish Consulate in London. What was that experience like?

Working at the Spanish Consulate was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. From a professional point of view, I got to work with a very international team, and as part of the public administration department, I offered services directly to citizens. On a personal note, I made new friends that are still part of my life today.

You also completed an internship at Eversheds Sutherland. How did that opportunity come about? What did you learn from that experience?

Sara Rodríguez - Story | IE Law School

I started my legal internship in the Banking & Finance Department at Eversheds Sutherland—a unique opportunity that was presented to me by the Talent & Careers Department at IE University. They recommended me for the role. I joined a fantastic team there where I learned a lot by being able to work with clients directly. Thanks to the Eversheds Sutherland internship, I decided to continue studying to become a lawyer in the finance and banking sector.

Tell us about your new position at Cases & Lacambra

Once again, the IE Talent & Careers Department helped me apply to Cases & Lacambra. Currently, I offer advisory services within the firm’s Financial Services and Markets practice group, both in Spain and abroad. This practice group is a specialized area for Cases & Lacambra, and one of the firm’s main pillars. I haven’t been there long, but I’ve already learned a great deal both within my department and in the firm overall.

Take the next step in your legal education.
