We are now more or less half way through the course and the pace has really picked up.<\/p>\n
We started off our machine learning classes in R with Ivan with a recap on data table syntax, linear models and regressions.<\/p>\n
Even though this week is a short week as we celebrate the International Workers\u2019 Day on the 1st<\/sup> of May and the resistance of Madrid to Napoleon on the 2nd<\/sup> of May we are spending the free time catching up on some coding and some theory, but most of all we are getting serious about our data science projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n Hence, after having started machine learning classes in R with Ivan, we are getting right back to preparing, cleaning and wrangling our data sets for our final project.<\/p>\n It feels good to put all that we have learned during the previous weeks to work and to see how to apply things in \u201cthe real world\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n Just like the other teams we spent all of May 1st<\/sup> at Calle de Maria Molina to implement everything we have discussed with our \u201cclient\u201d before. As expected, some things took us longer than we would have initially thought. However, in the end of the day we could close our laptops, quite satisfied with the progress we have made. Even better we also got a chance to enjoy the beautiful city and a couple of days off, exploring the streets of Malasana and the cultural offerings around the holidays.<\/p>\n We finished the week with an insightful session with Veronika on Saturdays, taking an under-the-hood look into the workings of recommendation engines and the various use cases for multinational companies.
