Bachelor Programs Academic Year 2019-2020 Kick-off

The Bachelor in Architectural Studies and the Bachelor in Design kicked off the academic year with a welcome address from Dean Martha Thorne.
Following Martha Thorne's introduction, outstanding students were recognized with the Design Excellence Awards for their achievements in the 2018-2019 Design Studio courses.
Students, faculty, and staff enjoyed reconnecting after the summer holiday, swapping books and of course the pizza party! The social event was a fantastic way for new bachelor students to mingle with peers and to learn more about student life at IE as an A&D student.

Housed in the historic IE Campus in Segovia, among other locations, the Hay Festival took place from September 20 to 22 with different lectures organized by IE School of Architecture and Design

On the same afternoon, Raj Rewal talked about the social responsibility of being an architect and the main purpose of bringing joy to the citizens.

Jeanne Gang, one of the most exciting US-based architects today, focused on the idea of humanism and aesthetics, and how buildings should be a tool to connect society.

On Saturday, September 21, Amanda Levete took the stage with Peter Florence to share their views on the changing role of architects and they talked about the impact of the new technologies in architecture.
