Bachelor in Design

Ruxandra Iancu Bratosin co-founded Basics Studio in 2016, a design studio with a focus on digital tools and fabrication, sustainable social and environmental practices. She is also a founder of Advocacy Planning, an initiative dedicated to aiding disenfranchised communities, as a continuation of her projects in Guinea-Bissau.

Both in the built and digital environment, Ruxandra’s work focuses on the process of experimentation and has a social and investigative nature. Most recently her focused shifted towards virtual reality and digital experimentation. Her digital works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2016.

She has been active in the academic field, teaching in the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona, ETSAM in Madrid, Elisava in Barcelona, and she has held lectures and workshops across the globe. Currently she is an Associate Professor in the Bachelor in Design at IE School of Architecture de Design.

Between 2014 and 2016 Ruxandra was a partner architect at Margen-Lab Barcelona where she was actively involved in several multi-scale projects in Spain and abroad, dealing with topics related with environmental analysis and adaptation, sustainability and self-sufficiency. Between Oct 2015 – Oct 2016 she was the Coordinator for the Project for the Self Sufficient City Department, led by Vicente Guallart,  within the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona.

She studied architecture in Bucharest, Romania after which she received a Master in Advanced Architecture program in the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia | IAAC, where her master thesis was awarded the “Thesis of Excellence” prize.
