HOT TO GO

HOT TO GO reimagines Madrid’s Cementerio de la Almudena as a sustainable, living memorial that merges mourning, ecology, and technology. Addressing concerns around urban crematoria, the project transforms cremation into a renewable energy source through filtration and heat recovery systems. This energy supports communal spaces including remembrance gardens, edible landscapes, and a heated public pool. Integrated data centers preserve digital legacies, while immersive visual and auditory rooms allow visitors to experience memories through multimedia archives. Inspired by the cemetery’s angelic iconography, the modular design weaves through the landscape as infrastructure for grief, connection, and new rituals, where death sustains life.
