Daniel Fernandez Kranz, appointed new Vice Dean of Economics of IE School Of Global and Public Affairs
This appointment highlights the School´s strengthening of its footprint in the area of Economics, with the Bachelors in Economics, and the new Masters in Applied Economics which will commence in September.
IE University has announced the appointment of Daniel Fernández Kranz as the new Vice Dean of Economics of its School of Global and Public Affairs (IE GPA). Prof. Fernandez Kranz will lead the School’s transition to a stronger focus on Economics and a greater emphasis on an economic curriculum which will lead to better prepared leaders and professionals in the vast array of disciplines within the social sciences spectrum. Daniel´s incorporation to the School´s senior management team complements the current focus on International Relations, Politics and Public Policy.

“I am thrilled to welcome Daniel Fernandez Kranz to the GPA team. Daniel is an accomplished academic and a reference in the field of microeconomics. As Head of our Economics Department, he has demonstrated great leadership in the management of our internal and external faculty and has played a pivotal role in the development of our Bachelor’s in Economics and Master’s in Applied Economics. As Vice Dean of our School he will now have the capacity to affect all aspects of our academic development,” said Manuel Muñiz, Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs and Provost of IE University.
Daniel Fernández Kranz holds a Ph.D. in Economics by the University of Chicago and has been an Associate Tenured Professor and the Chair of the Economics Department at IE University, where he has taught for more than ten years. His research focuses on Empirical Microeconomics in the areas of family economics, labor markets, gender economics and policy evaluation. He has lectured in Economics at several master programs and in advanced management programs for companies in Spain and the United States.
He joined IE University in 2008. Previously, he worked as an associate Professor at the Department of Economics of Saint Louis University-Madrid Campus and as an economic consultant at NERA Economic Consulting.

With this appointment, Prof. Fernandez Kranz becomes the third Vice Dean at IE GPA. Prof. Daniel Kselman is Vice Dean of Political Science & International Relations, and, Ángel Alonso Arroba is Vice Dean for Management and Development.
Daniel Fernández Kranz´s incorporation to IE GPA completes the school´s leadership team led by Dean and IE Provost Manuel Muñiz. The School has positioned itself as a reference in the area of Global and Public Affairs, with more than 1,200 students from over 70 countries and an internal and external faculty of over 150 professors. GPA offers cutting-edge education that equips young students and professionals with the skills and knowledge that will help them make a difference in today´s world.
