FAQs

Along with your IE user ID, an IE student e-mail address has been created for all students. You may access it directly from www.gmail.com or simply go to the “Gmail” button on the Tools Bar on your IE Campus homepage. IE departments will send you important communications to this address, therefore we advise you to check your IE inbox regularly.
Attendance is mandatory. Students are required to be present in at least 70% of the total number of sessions in each course. That is, a student may miss up to 30% of the sessions due to justified reasons, such as doctor appointments, official appointments outside of the university, medical emergencies or important family events. Missing more than 30% of the total number of sessions of any given subject, however, will result in obtaining a 0,0 on both the ordinary and extraordinary calls, and therefore needing to enroll that course again in the following academic year.

At IEU, English classes are not credit bearing, as a high level of english is expected of all students.

As for Spanish, only advanced courses (3.0 and above) may count as electives or supplementary classes.

Students may not request to change the date of a final exam. This involves re-scheduling the exam for the entire class and/or the professor preparing a separate exam for the student. Final exam dates are set in advance at the beginning of the year and are carefully thought through so there is minimal clash between classes.
In case you have two final exams on the same day and same time you need to speak to the professor of the lower level class (e.g. a retake from 2nd year and you are currently on your 3rd year) and arrange a new date to take the exam.

Credit validation varies upon class content, requirements and host university. You need to speak to the BIR Office and provide them with all of the class information, syllabus and course requirements so they can evaluate your situation.

Students may not change the date of any given assessment. Dates of midterms and final exams are set and cannot be changed. In the events of an extreme emergency, you may contact your professor and it is up to the professor’s discretion to change a student’s midterm.

This issue is not managed by the BIR Office.

Yes, 3rd and 4th year students may recognize credits from Supplementary Training (extracurricular activities, languages, etc) by using the online platform during the month of May (exact dates are always announced ahead of time). Students may recognize up to 15 ECTS from Supplementary Training (with a maximum of 12 ECTS from Languages). English classes and beginner and intermediate Spanish levels are not recognizable.

Students may not recognize classes that were not approved during their Exchange semester, even if the class appears on their transcript as supplementary education.

Yes, all students are entitled to a review of their final exam or class grade. Your professor will tell you when the review will take place. Review sessions always take place at least 48 hours after the grades are published.
After a class fills up it is no longer possible to enroll any more students. Our courses have limited availability and enrollment spots are assigned based on a first-come first-served basis.
Final exam and retake dates vary slightly with each academic year, but you can expect to have extraordinary examination sessions from the beginning of June until mid-July. Please, wait to book any flights until the schedule for all exams has been published and you are certain you don’t have exams after you leave. Remember final or retake exams cannot be re-scheduled.
You can request your official transcript by contacting the Registrar’s Office. Depending on the purpose, the unofficial downloadable copy from your Campus Online will suffice.

When a student fails any given course for the second time, and re-enrolls it in the next academic year, he/she is assigned to repeat that course with the same professor, as they already know the professor’s methodology. The student cannot choose a different professor for that retake course.

If you are a retake student, you might not be able to attend all the lectures due to schedule conflict. However, it is essential that you talk with your professor and inform him or her that you are retaking the course so you can prepare in advance.

Congratulations on your achievement! Students awarded with academic honors are processed by the Administration Department and the corresponding costs will be deduced from the next academic year’s tuition.
