Graduation & Alumni
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
GRADUATION
Our graduation ceremony is held every July at the Aula Magna, on the beautiful grounds of our Campus in Segovia, a city that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, and is famous for its cathedral, castle and aqueduct.
The Graduation Ceremony is one of the most important events in a student’s academic journey. It marks the culmination of four or five years’ worth of hard work and perseverance by closing a chapter and beginning another. It is a time to celebrate achievements, lessons learned and seeing the fruits of your labor. For us, graduation is a very exciting day as well, we always plan to make it extra special for both the student and his/her family, as it is a day they will never forget.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
ECTS Requirement
Students offically obtain their Bachelors once they complete 240 ECTS. Students who do meet the graduation requirements may still attend and participate in the graduation ceremony as long as they don’t have more than 30 ECTS pending from previous academic years and receive a passing grade on their final project. They also must enroll in those missing credits before attending the ceremony.
Every year, the top ten percent of the class is recognized on the Dean’s List, as an honor for having accomplished excellent academic standing and behavior throughout their academic journey. These students will receive a special letter from the Dean, congratulating them on their high achievement
Language Requirement
As a graduation requirement foreign students studying at IE University must achieve a B1 Spanish level by the time they graduate.
IE University Diploma
On graduation day, students do not receive their official diploma, as some of them may not have completed the credit requirement or final grades are not yet updated on their transcripts. Students receive a symbolic document that states they have officially completed all the requirements in order to graduate.
To obtain an official diploma students must request it by sending an email to registrar.university@ie.edu. The Registrar’s Office issues all official diplomas at IE University. The students can also request to have it sent to a mailing address or pick it up in person.
