We sat down with her to discuss what she got out of the event, and how she feels it has impacted her professional career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally from Guatemala, Ana recently graduated from IE University with the <a href=\"https:\/\/landings.ie.edu\/masterland-hst-master-market-research-consumer-behavior?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1ryU-vyg5QIViYbVCh0j_AVlEAAYASAAEgJlSPD_BwE&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Master in Market Research &amp; Consumer Behavior<\/a>. The international organization represents the interests of the research community on a global level, and regularly organizes conferences for industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThis was an exhilarating new event highlighting a collection of the best client-side practices,\u201d Ana tells us. \u201cIt aims to bring together the research community to be inspired by\u2014and learn about\u2014the latest techniques from leading global brands, from AI to machine learning to blockchain.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ana gained a wealth of insights from the conference, deepening her understanding of the digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cMost importantly, I learned about how embracing digital technologies is helping companies to become faster, more efficient, and more effective to drive more impact in their organization,\u201d she explains.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this is clear in recent developments across industries today. In fact, the market intelligence firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simplilearn.com\/how-big-brands-transforming-experiences-through-digital-transformation-article\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IDC predicts that<\/a> international spending on digital transformation will reach $1.7 trillion by the end of 2019, increasing by 42% since 2017. Professionals will have to embrace the digital era if they wish to climb the career ladder. \u201cOther key insights included the importance of gaining in-depth perspective on what it takes to harness new data,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns left-image is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cAnd how thinking outside the box and adapting to niche markets can bring deeper insight and new innovation, and change the global narrative.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ie.edu\/uncover-ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ESOMAR-2.jpg\" alt=\"From market research in Madrid to ESOMAR in Manhattan\" class=\"wp-image-27548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ie.edu\/uncover-ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ESOMAR-2.jpg 740w, https:\/\/www.ie.edu\/uncover-ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ESOMAR-2-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ie.edu\/uncover-ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ESOMAR-2-150x97.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.ie.edu\/uncover-ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ESOMAR-2-585x379.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The next chapter<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All of this has prepared Ana for her next professional journey after IE University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s helped me understand the current trends and challenges the industry is facing, and also to showcase how we, as researchers, can bring value to the industry,\u201d she elaborates. \u201cBesides that, I also gained key pointers on how to be bold when presenting research outcomes; every speaker really engaged the audience and was highly skilled in storytelling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, these very speakers and their diverse backgrounds were key to the success of the summit. From Microsoft and BBC World Service to NBC Universal and PepsiCo, attendees were able to learn from leading experts across a vast range of top-tier companies and organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe speakers were from very different industries, which made it even more interesting,\u201d Ana continues. \u201cOne of the presentations that struck me the most was about Microsoft&#8217;s experience with implementing a system that gains AI-enabled insights about customer experience drivers from detailed text feedback.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Next steps in AI<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Other up-and-coming software was also presented at the summit, giving attendees unique insight into what\u2019s to come in the world of digital transformation. Ana learned about how \u201ctraditional techniques are now being automated, such as open-question analytics and virtual qualitative studies that are supported by AI to simplify analysis in real time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She found <a href=\"https:\/\/remesh.ai\/product\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Remesh Platform<\/a> particularly interesting. \u201cIt lets you have a conversation with a live audience, where you can ask open-ended questions, and then it analyzes and segments the verbatim participants&#8217; responses in real time,\u201d Ana reveals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The summit was also a great opportunity for Ana to expand her international network. \u201cSpeakers, as well as attendees, were very welcoming,\u201d she says. \u201cI was able to make and keep contact with most of them after the event.
