Fernando Bermejo Acosta

Fernando Bermejo is the Progam Director of Media Cloud (mediacloud.org), a joint project of MIT’s Center for Civic Media, and Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

He is also a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center, and founder of Net Data Directory (netdatadirectory.org).

For over a decade, he was associate professor in the Department of Communication at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and has worked in applied research for media and technology companies as Senior Analyst at the Internet Research Group LLC and Research Analyst at CDNOW Inc. He has also served as regional editor for Latin America on a large scale multi-national research project (Mapping Digital Media) sponsored by the Open Society Foundations.

He is the author of the book The Internet Audience: Constitution and Measurement (Peter Lang, New York) and editor of On Communicating: Otherness, Meaning, and Information (Routledge: New York). Fernando holds a Ph.D. in Audiovisual Communication from the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, an M.A. from the Annenberg School for Communication (University of Pennsylvania), and a B.A. (Extraordinary Graduation Award) from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
