OUR STORY
IE University got its start back in 1973, when a group of ambitious entrepreneurs came together with a single mission: to reinvent higher education.
We’ve come a long way since then, now offering a broad catalog of impact-driven programs across six schools. Committed to the pursuit of knowledge and with a focus on sustainability, we aim to drive positive change through education, research and innovation. To that end, we create bachelor’s programs that shape young minds into the leaders of tomorrow, all while embracing our core values of diversity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the humanities.

FIFTY YEARS OF PUSHING BOUNDARIES
1973: IE UNIVERSITY IS BORN
IE Business School is founded, opening its doors in the heart of Madrid. We offer a selection of MBA programs, followed by the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and the Master in Legal Consultancy.
THE 80S: NEW FOUNDATIONS & CENTERS ARE FORMED
The Alumni Association and the Centre for Entrepreneurship are established. We also set up the IE Foundation and the IE Fund in order to drive research and provide access to scholarships.
THE 90S: INTERNATIONAL OFFICES ARE ESTABLISHED
We open our first international offices in order to expand our reach and build community. Today, we have 30 of these hubs in different countries around the world.
REACHING NEW HEIGHTS WITH E-LEARNING
IE University becomes one of the first universities in the world to launch a blended-format program, becoming a pioneer in e-learning. Today, we remain a leader in online education and learning innovation in general.
GLOBAL RECOGNITION & COLLABORATIONS
We continue looking for the best universities to team up with in order to offer unique and dynamic programs to our students. Today, we have 260 collaborations with top schools across 71 countries.
THE EARLY 2000S: A BRAVE NEW WORLD
We launch our very first undergrad programs, bringing in young students from around the world. These bachelor’s degrees are crafted to prepare graduates to succeed in the modern world, embracing technology and taking a practical approach to learning.
