What do you like most about studying at IE University?
The time you spend in the studio is very entertaining, even on stressful days, thanks to the people who spend time with you there and contribute to creating an enjoyable environment. There’s a lot of singing and fun conversations constantly going on. We are all very respectful to each other, but agree on the importance of mingling and keeping a cheerful atmosphere. All of this makes time pass really fast and before you notice, your projects are done!
Wake up – if I ever went to Sleep – and get ready for class. The Bachelor of Architectural Studies is a very demanding program, and sometimes it requieres working non-stop for 24 hours!
Class time. The sessions tend to be quite long in order to take advantage of the studio time with the teachers.
We tend to start at 9:30 and finish at 14:00 (with of course a short break in between).
Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
There’s this thing about IE University—you are always involved, somehow, in an extracurricular activity! There are initiatives for all types of personalities and tastes, so it’s hard not to participate in at least one of them. Personally, I’ve found myself immersed in some of these activities without even realizing it.
Well deserved lunch break! I usually have lunch at the cafeteria and use this time to catch up with my friends and just relax.
Back to class! These classes last for one hour and 20 minutes each and usually go on until 19:30 or 21:00, depending on the day.
What are your favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subjects are probably Virtual Space, Digital Image, and Architectural Geometry. In the first two, the teachers are awesome and engage with students in a very unique way. We have fun while learning and get astonishing results! When it comes to Architectural Geometry, even though it’s one of the toughest subjects, I love the way we work with 3D software to create amazing models.
If you are well organized and you learn how to manage your time and work, you can go home for a nice dinner or even go out with some friends. If not, you probably have to stay in the Architecture Studio at night until you finish your work.
