The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and IE University sign agreement to promote the humanities

IE University students and alumni from 140 countries will be able to participate in training courses, internships and virtual visits to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and IE University today signed a collaboration agreement to carry out a range of activities aimed at highlighting the strategic value of art, culture and education as vectors for the development of society. The agreement will allow both institutions to work together on projects and activities to promote knowledge, the arts and the humanities.

Through the agreement, IE University students and alumni from 140 countries will be able to participate in training courses, internships and virtual visits to one of the world's most prestigious museums. In addition, students will develop consulting projects with experts from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao as part of their capstone projects. The agreement also provides for some of the Museum's directors to participate as speakers in sessions, seminars, webinars and extracurricular activities at IE University.

Juan Ignacio Vidarte, Director General of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, said: “We are delighted to be able to contribute to the education of new generations through this agreement and we believe that it will be very enriching to exchange ideas and experiences with them.”

“We believe that the knowledge generated over the 23 years of the Museum's existence will serve to enrich the students' careers and to promote their vision and international career, while generating a mutually beneficial dialogue.”

“To be a leader in today's constantly changing environment, the arts and humanities are essential, both personally and professionally,” added Susana Malcorra, Head of IE University Arts & Humanities Division and Dean of IE School of Global & Public Affairs. “IE University strengthens its position with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao through this alliance, which will continue bringing the value of the humanities to its diverse community of students, professors and alumni,” concluded Malcorra.
