The Quirón Hospital Group will subsidize the “Young Talent Leader” scholarship valued at €120,000, which will permit an outstanding student from an emerging country to study at IE University.

Pilar Muro, President of the Quirón Hospital Group, and Diego del Alcázar, President of IE Foundation, signed an agreement at IE University’s Madrid complex today whereby the health group will fund a Young Talent Leaders scholarship worth €120,000. The scholarship will cover an entire graduate program at IE University for a student from an emerging country that demonstrates a high level of academic merit coupled with initiative and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The scholarship, which will also cover the cost of enrolment, accommodation, materials, travel and maintenance in Spain, will be applied for the four years that IE University graduate degrees run.

As Pilar Muro underscored during the signing of the agreement, “With this scholarship, the Quirón Hospital Group is sharing with IE Foundation its interest in supporting society’s progress by attracting and educating human capital that can contribute to the business environment, the fabric of production, and the organizations of which it is comprised.”

The Young Talent Leaders scholarship will permit the best talent to gain a top-tier education at IE, recognized worldwide for its focus on academic and professional excellence. The University is joined in this commitment by companies like the Quirón Hospital Group and AJE, one the world’s largest beverage producers.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by José Ramón Rubio, Vice President of Quirón, Rafael Benjumea, President of the IE University Board of Governors, and Rafael Puyol, Vice President of IE Foundation.

IE University’s student body comprises students from 85 countries. Together with IE Foundation the University has built up an extensive range of scholarships over the last few years, estimated to stand at some six million Euros per year, the aim being to ensure that no high-potential student be prevented from studying for economic reasons.

The scholarships cover a broad spectrum of possibilities for students depending on the chosen field of study, the university degree they wish to undertake, and their creative and academic potential.

Examples of the kind of scholarships on offer include sector-based scholarships, offered in conjunction with large law firms like Cuatrecasas, Clifford Chance, or Pérez Llorca, scholarships for International Baccalaureate students, or students at UWC (United World Colleges), and the fellowship scholarships whereby students render services to the University community during their studies.

Last year over 65% of scholarship applications were approved, and 55% of current IE University students receive some kind of support to help fund their studies.
