Today IE University signed a cooperation agreement with the Spanish Seniors for Technical Cooperation (SECOT) association that will allow counseling for the implementation of students´ business projects. The agreement was created to promote collaboration between academia and industry and to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas of students. The agreement was made possible through the participation of the Chamber of Commerce Mexico-Spain, an organization particularly involved in the development of initiatives of this nature and in the internationalization of young entrepreneurs´ projects.

The agreement was signed today by the Dean of IE University Francisco Mata and the Secretary General of SECOT Spain Carlos Garcia Cebrian. The event was attended by the Director of Institutional and Corporate Relations at SECOT Carmen Aleman and the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Mexico - Spain, Eduardo Ocampo, among other authorities. In addition, representatives from the Office of SECOT in Segovia as well as Tomás Fernández de Larrinoa, President of SECOT Valladolid also attended the event.

SECOT is a nonprofit association whose members are retirees or early retirees which, upon completion of their professional career are dedicated to advising and training an altruisticly and selflessly the businesses of the new entrepreneurial generations. Thus, these senior professionals are joining IE University´s project in order to create a business incubator (UIS Lab Start-up) to channel, encourage and assist the business projects of students in different sectors. The senior volunteer network of business advisory will support young entrepreneurs and help them develop their business ideas, and to contribute in this way to the economic progress of Segovia, Castilla y Leon.

The main objectives of this agreement are to give young entrepreneurs at IE University the opportunity to receive advice from SECOT expert s, promoting joint and vocational training, studies on topics related to active aging, and joint participation in activities that promote debate on how to encourage entrepreneurship in Segovia.
