IE University celebrates Happiness Week

IE Day will take place on March 17 and will include the first solidary vertical race within the IE Tower.

In the run up to International Happiness Day on March 20, IE University is celebrating Happiness Week, a series of initiatives to promote a sense of community and belonging within the academic institution, which has students of more than 140 nationalities on campus.

As part of the program, IE Day will take place on Thursday, March 17.

“The IE Day is the day we all turn blue. A day where all students, staff, alumni and faculty come together as one to relish the IE University spirit, to celebrate the values of the institution, and to celebrate every individual that makes our community so unique.”
Sabine Yazbeck, Head of Student Experience

Organized by IE Campus Life in collaboration with the IE Center for Health, Well-being & Happiness, IE Day will promote recreational initiatives and healthy habits related to sports and nutrition. Among them, the 1st edition of the IE Day Vertical Race will take place, a race within IE Tower, the new, 35-story technological and sustainable campus of IE University. The event, supported by the IE Foundation, will raise funds for Ukraine as part of the #IEForUkraine campaign that IE University has promoted in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross.

Under the heading 'Building a Culture of Well-being', activities that promote well-being through the humanities will be organized, such as a group mural painting session led by alumnus and author Cozy Haugen, and a guided visit to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum to enjoy the exhibition 'Life's Pleasures', organized by IE Arts and Humanities Division. "From the Center of Health, Well-being and Happiness, we strive to support students in their journey in feeling confident in who they are, their ability to learn and to overcome challenges along the way", explains Lisa Bevill, the center’s Academic Director.

"Happiness Week is an opportunity to cultivate positive emotions, to gain appreciation for a greater sense of contentment in life and to form a part of our collective celebration of our uniqueness and IE Community.''
Lisa Bevill, the center’s Academic Director

In addition, sports will be promoted through yoga and fitboxing sessions, while the Segovia campus will host the Holi Festival, a Hindu tradition known as the festival of colors.

IE University will also celebrate IE Creativity Day this Wednesday at the Casa de la Moneda in Segovia. Under the title 'Mind the Balance', the event will explore how to live with purpose, following the pillars of philosopher, psychologist and writer Emily Esfahani. Over the course of the day there will be a gastronomy and art events, along with a photography workshop led by visual artist Juan Ferrete supported by restaurants backed by the Segovia Tourist Office.
