Students from 15 countries, selected from a pool of 300 candidates resulting from a campaign held in more than a thousand schools in Africa, America and Europe, will be meeting at the Segovia and Madrid centers to examine ideas that can help improve the field of higher education.

Fifteen pre-university students from Africa, America, Asia and Europe will meet up from April 20 – 24 at IE University’s Madrid and Segovia centers to discuss ideas that could help improve higher education. IE University is holding the seventh edition of its International Junior Advisory Board, a committee comprised of fifteen international students who have in common an outstanding academic profile, an entrepreneurial mindset, a capacity for leadership, and the ability to speak several languages.

The fifteen students were chosen by IE University from three hundred candidates selected from more than a thousand schools worldwide. They are from Armenia, Brazil, China, El Salvador, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Turkey, UK, UAE, and the US.

“Universities are global institutions that are constantly evolving and have to move in lockstep with the expectations of a new generation of students,” says IE University Rector Salvador Carmona. “IE University’s International Junior Advisory Board provides a platform for young people from around the world to tell us how they see the education sector of the future from very diverse perspectives.”

During the week this group of talented young people, which have a total of nineteen nationalities between them, will undertake an extensive program of activities at IE’s Madrid and Segovia centers. They will be participating in workshops and classes on highly diverse subjects ranging from critical thought and humanities to entrepreneurship, led by top experts and professors from IE. They will also be enjoying a range of leisure activities and will be out and about in Segovia and Madrid to learn about the Spanish culture.

The International Junior Advisory Board initiative is a result of IE University’s commitment to constant innovation, and its search for excellence and new ideas aimed at enhancing the higher education process.   Academic directors at IE University feel it is crucial to hear young people’s ideas and concerns in order to design education programs that meet their needs and reflect their vision of the world.

At the end of the International Junior Advisory Board Meeting, participants will present a report on their conclusions about how they see the world of education, with a special focus on aspects where there is room for improvement which will permit IE University to best meet their needs and address their concerns.
