IE University’s Green Week Focuses on the UN’s 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals

IE will host the 3rd annual IE Green Week between October 21-25. The initiative, organized by Campus Life, will feature activities, conferences and workshops to promote commitment to the defense of the environment and the UN’s 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Madrid and Segovia centers.

IE Green Week aims to raise awareness among students, alumni, professors and staff of IE University about the importance of caring for the environment in pursuit of a more sustainable life. Scale your impact is this year’s motto, inviting environmentally friendly initiatives.

This year’s event is aligned with the UN’s 2030 Agenda, which consists of 17 objectives and 169 goals in pursuit of equality, protection of the planet and prosperity. It is a new global social contract aimed at leaving nobody behind.

IE Green Week highlights the need to be aware of change and to take one more step together.

With this in mind, a series of messages linked to waste management and responsible consumption will be read at IE's centers in Madrid and Segovia. These messages will encourage people to recycle, reduce consumption of electricity and water and to adopt new habits in our daily lives, such as using the stairs instead of the elevator.

The week-long event, features a crowded agenda of activities, workshops and awareness campaigns in collaboration with five Student Clubs. IE Green Week will continue over the next few months through a range of actions managed by a committee of students committed to the defense of a green culture.

Campus Projects

A campaign to raise awareness about sustainability issues in the run up to IE Green Week, saw students, teachers and staff members collect garbage generated by the campus: paper, glasses, bottles, teaspoons, and plastics of all kinds. This material will be classified and used in the workshop delivered by Segovia-based artist Alberto Fernández Hurtado at the Casa de la Moneda Creativity Center.

Meanwhile, IE students will fill the buildings of the Madrid center with multidisciplinary art (poems, illustrations of mural art, performances, etc.), based on the importance of sustainability.
