Technology, sustainability and critical thinking, the focus of IE University’s humanities module

IE University has updated the content of its humanities module by adapting its themes and methodology to the current social and cultural ecosystem. This mandatory unit, developed by the institution’s Arts and Humanities Division, enriches the learning experience of students attending all degree programs.

Academic content is structured around major social issues such as the relationship between humanity and technology, the challenges of sustainability, justice and equality, the importance of critical thinking, the impact of culture and the media on social change, ethics, and innovation.

Students can select the topics they are interested in and share the sessions with their peers on other programs or at other schools, transforming their learning experience by developing critical thinking and the skills needed to work in multidisciplinary teams made up of people with diverse profiles from different backgrounds and professional experiences.

About IE University Arts & Humanities Division

The Arts and Humanities Division was created as a transversal platform for the five IE schools with the aim of strengthening students' humanistic thinking and providing them with a more complete education. Like other major institutions, IE University is committed to strengthening the humanistic component of its curricula in order to respond more effectively to the growing demand from leading industries for "versatile" graduates who excel not only in the use of the methods and tools of science and technology to solve problems, but who can also address those same problems within a "humanistic mindset"; that is, understanding the complexity of their socio-political contexts, appreciating the human and cultural elements present in all personal and professional interaction, and valuing the ethical impact of their actions and decisions.
