Graham Foundation Awards over $560,000 in Grants to Organizations

The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts is pleased to announce its 2011 Grants to Organizations. Over $560,000 was awarded to 47 grantees, whose work engages a wide range of issues in architecture and related spatial practices. The awards given provide support to organizations for the production and public presentation of publications, exhibitions, films, new media initiatives, and other programs. “What is exciting about these projects is the innovative and diverse ways that they consider and demonstrate the impact of architecture, which is central to many contemporary issues. They reveal the ways that we understand, inhabit, and conceive of space,” says Sarah Herda, director of the Graham Foundation.

Over its 55-year history, the Graham Foundation has awarded more than 4,000 grants to individuals and organizations—totaling over $32 million. Grantees this year represent a diverse group of organizations across the U.S. and the world, including museums and galleries, publishers, universities and colleges, and architecture centers, who were selected from a pool of over 200 submissions after a highly competitive selection process.
